The tail detail indicates which end is which of the parasite so that you don't get confused when I draw one tip only or the other. This may seem like common sense but the required visual information is only half of the equation to art. The other half is enhancement to make you like the art. Some art may meet a mediocre standard but it takes a lot of work to get the basics in place enough for people not to notice any problems. After that, you can make it unique to attract people. That's one of my philosophies on art. The foundation is taken for granted. I'm not saying that's wrong, but I think it's worth noting when appreciating art and hard work. Just meeting the standard is tough. You usually don't notice this until you see a really badly executed piece of art that obviously had little time or thought or work put into it.
