Hello my Yaszies! I hope you're all well! The holiday month is here, time to get dressed like a naughty elf, an obese bearded creep or just put on some dollar stole antlers on and open wide :P.

Currently working on my first straight scene as I wanted to mix things up and try the new Female Human model from Bangfri. I really wanted to make it slightly longer to convey a range of emotions through the animation, however, I have recently had the opportunity to have a brief chat with a major AAA studio animator and he gave me some amazing advice on not only improving my work but my mindset on thing as a whole. Since it takes me anywhere from 35-100 hours to animate things his advice was to set deadlines and not overstep them no matter what. Meaning if I can't get it finished and polished off just the way I want to then I have to deal with having to post poor quality content and move onto a new piece. As I continue to pump out doodles in the tighter timeframes I will learn to produce better quality pieces in less time. Besides the learning phase of creation is during the first half of the project, the polishing/perfection stage is just a time sink with little result.

His theory was that the more pieces you pump out the more likely you are to produce a masterpiece, much like exploiting the laws of probability. Because your personal image of perfection is often only perfect in your own eyes because you spent so much time exposed to it. I also got some amazing tips on lighting and many encouraging words as part of my little chat.

In other news there has been some drama arising in the artist community with people finally getting fed up with art thieves. There was a tumblr post made that addresses a guy from PornHub making music-compilation(PMV, HMV etc...) videos that is earning several figures more than the artist themselves whom he gives zero credit. There are many like him but for this example I'll use FutaSfmAddict of PornHub, He hasn't posted a video in 4 months now but his Patreon is pulling in more than $4500 a month, plus his PornHub revenue. This is just from making a bunch of compilations with many artists stolen works as he doesn't make anything himself. There is no credit given to the artists and many of the videos have been cropped to even exclude the watermarks so that there is zero chance of these people even being discovered.

So here we have a guy that has used some free editing software to put a bunch of stolen pieces into a timeline and slapped on an also stolen song over the top and while being inactive is pulling in $4500 a month while I have sunk over 1000 hours this year into my projects and use licenced software only(Adobe is $68 a month alone) and having to run the air-conditioner for endless hours while rendering to not burn the house down and I made $11 last month. Woo!

By no mean am I trying to suggest that I'm worth more than 11 bucks a month nor do I want to make it all about money, but, money is a very clear indicator of what's going on here. This is just one of many cases we have seen over the past couple of years and I'm sure it's not the last but spreading awareness and supporting your artists directly is the only way to protect the future of accessible art for everyone. Before everybody either stops making it all together or puts money barriers on everything. As I continue to learn I really wanted to set a goal of getting my hands on a Wacom, this is something I mentioned before. As I try and use brush and sculpt tools to create my own models and textures I'm finding it very difficult to interact with object via a mouse. Which is why I am going to make a goal to save up for a multi-touch Wacom tablet. I might make a goal meter to show how close I'm getting to it for all to see.

Also after having a good read and experiment around with Maya, 3ds, Redshift, Zbrush and a few others I have decided to pick up Blender and use it as a stepping stone to those more powerful tools since the combined costs of these software suites is mind boggling. While I have been granted student versions of some of these suites, these are limited to study and I can't actually accept a commissions when using this software.

I'm looking forward to getting this animation off the ground and will do my best to keep the process brief so that I can keep moving forward and bring you fresh pieces.

Have an awesome day!
