Maybe it's because I do jiujitsu and listen to too much true crime but I don't feel like he did anything wrong and very well could have saved her life. Her behavior and attitude was dangerous and women have been *killed* by having this attitude before. She fucked around and found out in the most low cost way. Better this than dead.

I kinda thought the same too. You never really understand how hard it is to get out of a man’s grasp once you’re in it. I did BJJ too and I never let a man get close to me when I’m alone, I can’t handle myself if it comes to that.

I think he saved her life, and yea it sucks reality kicked in, but honestly, it’s better she found out this way, rather than by a stranger on the street. She is a women, and him being concerned for her sounded like it came from a good place. I think she needed that reality check. Women are indeed strong, but men are men. Do not underestimate them and overestimate yourself. Stay cautious, stay smart, and run when it’s convenient and or your only option. Not every battle is meant to be fought.

He liked it. This is an abuser, idk how he rationalized. FOR MINUTES! Absolutely not. I am a black belt, studied for 10 years and I STILL TAKE ALL THE PRECAUTIONS. Your size or a class gives, a false sense of strength and capabilities, it isn’t going to help you to overpower someone. The point of martial arts is self preservation, not strength. Unfortunately, I have had to use my training multiple times, including in relationships. Every person with a uterus or part of a community with increased risk of assault needs to TRAIN in a combat sport. I recommend krava maga, jiujitsu, wrestling, judo, etc. If you choose to go with a karate studio ensure that they don’t just teach you forms (katas). My black belt is in karate and thankfully my parents put me in a studio that also taught us all of the main skills in of the sports listed above. I trained with men, I learned how to use their strength to defend myself, grips, throws, striking and weapons. Please please please, no one is invincible - cut the ego and do what’s needed to help you feel CAPABLE in this situation.
