Hello my patrons! So this video was supposed to be quick and easy, a casual testing of some MFM hard drives..... that isn't how it went. LOL! Basically I ran into constant issues which means it took absolutely forever to test these four drives. In the end, it worked out -- but it all just reminds me how fussy these are and why I don't use them anymore!

Besides testing, we're exploring what's on them and even do an autopsy!

Enjoy and thank you for the support!

I ran into so many issues trying to test these MFM hard drives

#autopsy #retronoises Time for some more MFM drive testing. Whenever I end up with these drives, testing them if always a bit of a pain, but I never expected all the issues I would run into testing these drives. So enjoy the struggle I went through testing these relics of the past! -- Info Drive 1 - Fujitsu Limited M2227D Drive 2 - Computer Memories Inc. I think we now know what the "MF" in MFM really stands for.

Mathew Vensel

you said they changed it to 30mb which was heads 0-5 and doesn't use 6/7 so maybe that is why the bottom platter was turned off was to allow the disk to be used.
