Hello my patrons! I'm finally back with a frivolous second channel video where I check out this little "fun" VHS playback deck. There is something about these highly cost reduced mechanical marvels that I really love. This one was rescued from being recycled and I thought it might be fun to see if it works and if this deck has anything interesting going for it. (Spoiler: It does!)

This thing is as basic as basic gets, but it was still fun to see this thing live again!

Thanks for all the support!

Play VHS tapes while sideways and upside down (Goldstar GCP-C135)

Oh no, I'm looking at a VHS deck again! This one seemed a bit more interesting than a run of the mill VHS deck from the 90s simply because of the use case this was designed to exist in. Hope your stomach gets better sooner - I had a bout of that years ago and IT SUCKED! That little machine reminds me of one that my grandparents had in their van back in the 80s. If you were sitting in the back, there were cubbies up top where there was a little tv and VCR. I remember them driving down some road towards Florida with me standing in my seat to change tapes :P

If no one else has mentioned, these were sold and popular in the UK, as they did NOT require a TV licence. They had no ability to 'receive live TV'... So there was a whole market for caravans / holiday homes etc as I remember it where a true VCR would have incurred an additional cost.
