Meet Vanessa from Australia.  Vanessa is a therapist and a musician, she combines music in her work, both as a performer and a coach.

In this video Vanessa plays the song "Jay Mata Kali" by Akari Tamura, demonstrating a nice fingerpicking pattern with hammer ons, as well as strumming, to accompany herself.

Vanessa shares about herself:

"I’m an Energy Medicine and Emotional Transformation Specialist with my own clinic in Brisbane Australia. I also teach Yoga,  do Sound healings at retreats, play percussion and sing in a Kirtan band monthly. I have four boys, two fur babies, and two feathered friends and I have a massive passion for medicine music.

I started playing about 20yrs ago in a covers band, but never really learnt properly and so ended up with injuries that forced me to stop playing for the past 15yrs.  About 12mths ago I decided to pick up the Bass guitar and fell in love.

Then 6mth ago I picked up my old guitar and played some Bass lines I was learning and realized I could finger pick on it, wow I was amazed and wanted to learn this asap. I got a message from the universe that I needed to start singing and playing again and the music I resonate with the most was Sanskrit Mantras, so I tried to find a few songs to learn to play.

One of my favourites songs was Tina Malia’s In Sunlight and so I searched for someone on Youtube and came across Shai’s Patreon page, which I quickly joined and then reached out for some 1:1’s and OMG I was so happy, that was nearly 5mths ago, and have been playing every day since.

I was so happy to finally have an amazing guitar teacher who pushed me in ways I never thought were possible.

I’ve re-learned some of my own songs I’d written years ago, and learnt about 10 new songs I’d never be able to play in the past.

Thank you for this amazing opportunity Shai. "
