I filmed this tutorial after a lesson/co-creative session with Vanessa, a student and community member from Australia.

Vanessa writes and performs her own songs, and we were working together on using rhythmic guitar techniques such as percussive hits, hammer ons & pull offs to enrich the arrangement of her song and make it more dynamic.

Difficulty level: Beginner - intermediate

-----------------------------------------------------------------

About the tutorial:

In the tutorial I break down the different layers that makes the rich rhythm guitar arrangement:

1. The basic rhythmic pattern

2. How to count

3. Using open strings & hammer ons to add color

4. Adding pull offs

The most important element here is rhythm awareness. In order to play a solid rhythm guitar you need to be aware of where the different sounds fall in relation to the beat and the basic rhythmic pattern.
