Today I am sharing with you an original etude (musical exercise), designed to help you memorize & differentiate between the musical qualities of the major & minor scales.

Difficulty level: Intermediate - advanced

About the etude

The etude alternates between the E major and E minor scales, and is perfect for:

- Memorizing the major and minor scales/arpeggios shapes

- Familiarizing yourselves with the different musical characteristics of the major and minor scales

- Building speed, a good sense of rhythm & accents

Subjects covered in the video tutorial

- Left hand positioning and major/minor scale patterns

- Scale degrees and differences between the major and minor scales

- Alternate picking (right hand) technique

- Legato (pull offs & hammer ons) technique

Included are tabs & backing tracks in 3 different speeds for download.

In the backing tracks I play a demonstration of the exercise in each speed, and then the rhythm guitar for 3 rounds, for you to play on top of.
