Shitty cheap CGI is what me stop watching the last of the Full Metal Panic anime. The mecha fights just looked completely like crap and you can tell it was done so as to make it so they could cheap out on it. As much good as has come about because of CGI, just as much bad has come out of it. Though fun fact. Aono at one time only did End of Eva as a sort of middle finger to the fans, by basically decannonizing the film from the rest of the series. However the fan base one uped him by basically say they didn't care as it was a better and more definitive ending than the series. Though while the creator was having a mental breakdowns and other various other mental health issues at the time(not a fun thing and should never be made fun of) the reason for why the series had a sort of WTF ending is a far, far simpler ending than you might think. It boils down to the fact that they simply ran out of money. They blew the budget on the previous 20 something episodes and were left less than shoe strings to try and finish out the last four episodes.

I had first thought you were talking about Mao, but after a little digging I figured out you were talking about the redhead Nami. Like I said I watched one or two episodes of the series before I just stopped as the shitty CGI was just too much for me. After watching the animations and how beautiful they looked in the original I couldn't watch that series.
