An interesting aside about it. I know in several cases where they used 3D CG and the fans decried it that when they brought it out later...those elements had been changed. I'm of course talking about Sailor Moon Crystal. In the first season of the anime the transformation sequences were this absolutely horrible CG flash of...something. The fan backlash was sooo massive, that season 2 which came out like a year later I believe...did away with it in favor of more traditional looking 2D art aesthetic. Also love the new look Dai-chan. Rock it out girl!

I definitely feel SM Crystal's cg was a crutch. The whole series has meh animation.

I was fine with most of the rest of the animation, what I liked more about it over the Cloverfield(?)/Dic stuff was the lack of filler. Which I suppose was my problem, the pacing. Now that isn't to say that I don't still love the original, I firmly acknowledge that it's what got me into it(and to read the mangas) that I even knew Crystal was about.
