Intro
Sericulture, or silk farming, is the cultivation of silkworms to produce silk. When Eco Living was announced and there were the speculations concerning Insect Farming, I was low-key hoping that silkworms would be included, unfortunately for me they were kept out of the picture. But now they can be part of my and your gameplay through this mod.
Search: Silk Farm
- Location - Misc Appliances, Outdoor Activity
- Price - 350 Simoleons
- Colors - 10 (recolors are allowed, do NOT include the mesh!)
Interactions:
To start farming silkworms your Sim needs to 'Set Up' the farm and then 'Farm Silkworms', these two are one-time interactions. You need to do it only when you buy new Silk Farm, or if the silkworms die (extremely rare).
Silkworms Care (Once the farm is established there will be three interactions available):
Feed silkworms:
- Requires three mulberry fruits in the inventory.
- Can be fed once from 6AM to 4PM.
- Increases the relationship
- If your Sim forgets to feed the silkworms, they won't be able to collect silk!
Collect Raw Silk:
- The option is available ONLY from 8PM to 10PM
- It won't show up, if you forget to feed the silkworms
- After collection, you can find the item in the inventory
Tell A Story
- Increase relationship
- Fills the social motive
- If your Sim is emotional (tense/angry/emberrased) it will decrease the longevity of the moodlet
RELATIONSHIP
- Sim have minimal extablished relationship with the farm right after buying them
- Silkworms do not appear in relationship panel, it's like the BeeBox
- Relationship gain happens when telling story and feeding them
SILK PROCESSING
Once the Silk is collected you can either sell it raw, or you can process it using the Silk Processor (you can steam and dye the silk to be ready for weaving (Loom expected within month or two!)).
Raw Silk cost 30 simoleons and when is sold to the Textile Manufacturing Factory it's paid double for it (60$). When is processed and/or dyed the price of the silk increases a lot (around 400$).
