Anemone fish, or clownfish, is one of the most famous fish. Many people are probably aware of their symbiotic relationship with sea anemones.

They became more famous because of the movie Finding Nemo, and I loved that movie too. (It's ironic and sad that despite the movie's story, it had an impact on the decline of fish populations in nature btw.)

Anyway, although they are very, very famous fish, only the ocellaris clownfish appeared in Nemo, so it seems that few people, unless they are interested in fish, know that there are many more types of anemone fish!

There are 30 species of anemone fish, and I decided to draw them all this time.  (I know they have several morphs as well, but this time I only focused on species in nature.) Some of them look very similar, but there are subtle differences in the thickness or color of the bands.

Maroon anemonefish has spines on its cheeks.

Ocellaris and clown (Amphiprion percula) look almost similar, but the black band on the percula side is a little thicker!

I was thinking about drawing a tomato stalk on the Tomato anemonefish's head 😅

White-bonnet anemonefish and Thielle's anemonefish are are expected to be hybrid fish found in the wild.

Oman or Madagascar anemone fish have specially shaped tail fins.

It's fun to find that even though they look almost similar, there are different details. While reading various articles, it seemed like there was a difference in their personalities as well. How beautiful biodiversity is 😁💕

i love these! i think the madagascar is my favorite with the unique tail and the darker coloring. i really enjoy when you draw many types of related animals. the differences are small but very beautiful to see the variation all together.

A unique fin will always make fish stand out. It's fun to discover and draw their differences. And I'm glad you enjoyed it too. Thanks Mags!
