[wip] Tokay gecko (Patreon)

I was thinking of leopard and tokay for for polkadots series.. There will be a chance to draw the leopard again next time. As you know, I have drawn many type of geckos in the past, including leopards.

Initially, I had no intention of drawing tokay's morph. The male tokay is said to have a more colorful and dark pattern, while the female has a duller pattern.

I tried to draw only two or three types like this, but in the end, various morphs were included.

As I drew the morph in various colors, I ultimately changed it to a dark background. If I had only drawn with normal tokay, I would have used bright colors as the main color.

I heard on Wiki that 'Tokay' is an onomatopoeia of the sound made by males, so I looked up their voices on YouTube, and it's really, really, really cute, so I hope you'll give it a listen if you never heard.

They also seem to be famous for their violent temperament. There was a nickname called the devil's gecko. There are videos on YouTube Shorts of people waiting to get their fingers bitten by them lol.

While researching various materials, I found out that there are quite a few cases of them getting their tails hurt. Fortunately, their tails will regenerate. There are ten geckos in this picture, and one has regeneration tail.

To learn more about the characteristics of a morph, it is essential to read the research articles. It was interesting to read various studies on the genetics of these morphs. Granite, calico, and leucistic seem to be particularly related.
