It is one of the animals that I thought I should draw someday.

A while ago, I once drew it with doodle.

In our country, they are called 'helmet crab'(투구게).

They are not crabs, nor even crustaceans, but cute💕

(And I tend to love bottom dwellers.)

Have you ever seen a video on how to use their tails? (ref : Youtube link )

Color

I was contemplating between the two color combinations.

I thought about adding a bit of blue (the color of their blood) to the actual color of the brown. Perhaps if I chose brown, it would have a more natural and comfortable color.

In the end, it became a vivid pink and blue with a pastel background. I added iridescence as a highlight. It emphasizes the sparkling feeling and mystery.

Probably, some people tend to be scared of the inside of the horseshoe crab, so I thought about using a slightly unrealistic color.

Details

Originally, five pairs of legs, but I omitted it for design reasons.

(Because it's too complicated)

Mating👀

I'll upload wallpaper very soon.

Thank you!

They look like gummies… I love how you draw creatures that people typically don't find cute! Some of my fellow volunteers at the museum mention in their home country, they eat the eggs of certain species, but they have to be careful since some horseshoe crabs eat algae that makes them toxic. I wonder how it tastes

Oh, I didn't know that humans could eat their eggs. As I searched for the reference on the internet, I saw some pictures of their dishes. These days actually I see a lot of pictures of gummies. I don't know when it will be drawn, but one of my next projects is marine life gummie... I'm thinking about sunfish shape gummie.
