Old drawings and story (Patreon)

One of my old study note about marine life.

It's just the copy drawing of pictures of science books.

It is easy to find this kind of materials now, 

but at the time it was difficult and also most specialized materials are in English.

So I practiced it to memorize.

It's kind of rote learning.

I have a feeling of skepticism about how effective this method is, 

but I think it has helped somehow.

Well, I've been moving a lot and my room is narrow, 

I had to throw away most of the practice drawing when I moved.

The old digital pictures were lost because the computer was formatted.

But still i have a lot of drawings and picked some of them. 

Here we go. 

1996 (7 years old)

1999

It's so fun.. my points is 97.

Teacher minus three points from 100 points.

Teacher wrote the reason because I painted it insincerely.

2005

I lost most of my middle school drawings;

That time I started to watch Japanese animation and comic book.

Japanese culture was allowed to export to Korea from the '90s.

I used to drawing anime manga style pictures and fanart. 

My otaku soul was born that time.

Until this time, drawing was a just hobby.

I didn't know what I wanted to be.

My specialty was math and science. 

So I thought I'd get into the top university first and thinking about future later.

2006

I decided to art major when I was in high school.

I was fall in love with Hollywood movies at this time.

I wanted to go to study abroad in USA and become an art director .

Spent all my pocket money to going to the cinema.

There was an aquarium next to the movie theater.

Sometimes I watched a movie twice or three times in a day... 

I went to the aquarium in blank time and sketched a lot of fish.

2007

My mom brought some guppies from her friend.

We raised fish in big flat pots because we didn't have any knowledge of fish.

As you know, I have a habit of digging into one thing.

And I started to study about fish and aquarium since that time.

This changed my whole life.

I tried to find my own art style since that time..

This was a difficult journey (and it's never end you know)

Because no one can tell me about that. 

Only ourself can know about this.

2008

I was interested in Korean traditional painting.

Pregnant fish means good luck.

I met four corydoras adolfoi. (They still alive!)

At this time, my love for fish was crazy.

Even my parents advised me please don't talk about fish to your friend.

My shrimp tank.. :D I miss them.

I really want fish and shrimp product but there was no way to get this.

So I started to making my own fish product.

I drew them one by one by shrimp with acrylic🤣

Now the world has become so much better. 

Worldwide shipping is possible, and I have a redbubble shop..

Sometimes editing&updating for shop takes more times than painting.

But I try to update almost whole thing because I think someone somewhere in the world might want this kind of product as badly as I was.

2009

I made some character concept art Portfolio for animation company.

In 2009, I entered an animation company and I painted almost thousand pictures.

It was my first job towards my dream and I was so excited.

I didn't think about my rights or money, contract..

I can't upload any of these because of copyright problem.

I tried to solve this problem, but the last thing I heard was that the boss had in a prison.

I could learn very strongly about reality..

It was probably something that I had to go through one day.

Learned it a little earlier than others because I got a job when I was an early student.

I have been worried about environmental pollution since this time, like most people who care about animals.

From then on, I thought about what messages I would give to people by drawing.

I realized is that people don't want to see uncomfortable things.

People shocked when saw the sea turtle with straw up its nostril. 

But still want use plastic straw instead paper straw. 

I believe if people love sea turtle more than plastic straw, can change.

I'm so sad... even animals that aren't popular don't even get that kind of attention.

This is so difficult... I keep thinking about it over and over and over what can I do.
