I've been drawing fish for a long time, but I do not have much experience with animating.

So I had to study again before fish animating.

It's a character, so they express emotions like a human.

But I still want they feel like animals.

In case of shrimp, I learned that people hate when they look like bugs. However I believe the fish will be a little different.

I usually take a video first, slowly stop and observe their movement.

Their fins help the direction, balance and propulsion.

Their dorsal fin seem to folded when speeding up, and spread when they want to stop,

Caudal fin used for propulsion.

She was carrying her eggs with pelvic fins.

I think it's better to omit pelvic fins like adipose fin and anal fin for simple design and easy animating.

In my case, usually do not prefer to set gender of character.

However this time, my corydoras panda is a girl.

It's a tribute for my real pet fish that gone 2 years ago.

I need pelvic fins If I want to draw that she carrying her egg someday.

Also I really like those little fins.. it looks like small ribbon on the belly.

My animating skill is not good but I'll do better if I do study again and again!

Thanks!
