In the past, I often completed drawings directly from rough sketches without any intermediate clean-up steps. These days, I consciously keep my sketches a bit neater so I can use them for coloring pages. After working this way for over a year, I think there are more advantages in the end. (Actually, the only downside I can think of is that it's annoying and takes more time)
Because there is one more intermediate process, it takes time, but it allows me to think about it one more time before complete.
There are a lot of bright plants here, so I had to adjust them several times to make them look good when I painted them. I drew the angel wings and cocoon plant darker, but they are actually more white (like soft silver...? They have a nice texture).
Actually, around the time I was drawing part 3, I had a problem with my concentration..... Because there were suddenly some other animals I wanted to draw. (Last month it was an isopod, and this month it was a society finch) So, I was tempted to draw only the succulent plants up to part 3 and draw some animals... The reason I completed the fourth painting as planned was because I decided to draw a 'string of pearls'!
They look appetizing, but they contain a substance called Pyrrolizidine alkaloid that can cause vomiting or diarrhea if eaten by animals.
When I was researching data, I was very confused between curio and senecio... In the past, they were all senecio, but it is said that there are plants classified as curio here. Both words feel like magic spells to me.
The flowers are really pretty. Attractive plants.
Pencil cactus is called ‘green coral’ in here 😁
In Korea, many succulents are distributed under commercial names. To explain the feeling, when you hear the name, it reminds you of a jewel or feels majestic. I feel the name like milk tree or baseball plant is very cute.
There seem to be many succulents with fun and cool-shaped flowers.
(I didn't include it this time, but there are many types of hoya with colorful flowers.)
Among them, a starfish-shaped flower caught my eye. It smells like rotten meat to attract flies 🥺
