I like this fish so much that I've drawn it a few times.

Kuhli loach and plumeria WIP(May2)

I always thought I should draw more loaches... 😁 I've been watching some loach their videos on YouTube. The way they behave reminds me a lot of the Corydoras I grow. Burying face in the sand, hit the water's surface, preferring dark space.

Their name comes from the spines with faces... (the spines under the eyes remind me of Crown loach)

There are many more species of fish in Pangio, to which the Kuhli loach belongs, and they seem to be almost called the Kuhli loach (Coolie loach)

The way they swim is really cute. They are like dancing noodles.

To create a pleasant feeling, I placed the fish in this direction.

It feels like I'm swimming downwards in a zigzag motion. (Because they are bottom-dwelling fish)

This green background is the same green as the Otocinclus I drew a while ago.

They have slightly different patterns.

For example, shelfordii and superba seem to have bands that slightly escape the eye.

Bhujia is one of the most recently discovered Pangio loaches, whose eyes have degenerated because they live in darkness. And they have longer beards.

semicincta and kuhlii look very similar, so I looked up and referenced a lot of photos... but it seems like there's actually a lot of confusion. I'm not sure if I drew it right 😅 But one thing I was certain about while looking at various photos is that even though they are the same species, the patterns are very diverse. No two fish have exactly the same pattern. I think this is also the charm of this fish.

In addition to the pattern, they are slightly different in size (for example, myersi is larger), but I drew them in similar sizes in this picture 😁

Thanks for reading!

I think I know what it's like. My Corydoras does the same thing haha. They dig up the sand, messing up the water plants abnd eat a lot..I need to change water twice a week. The loach seemed trickier. Hehe, it's cute though.

THEY'RE JUST AS CUTE AS I EXPECTED!!! I like the iridescent ones the best! it's weird how there are iridescent birds and fish but I can't think of any mammals? anyway Big Love for these guys!!

Hearing that, me too. Come to think of it, there are a lot of rainbow-colored invertebrates too!
