When Jasmine got home, she went straight to her bedroom and opened up her guitar case. She carefully took out the guitar and then placed it on the bed. She then took out the tuner, the learner’s manual, and the pick.

Only when she laid everything out did she sit on the bed and take hold of the guitar. “Hmmm?” She had not noticed it before, but this time, when she picked the guitar up, she heard something rattling around inside of it.

Frowning, she held the guitar up and tried to look inside of it. But as she did, an object fell out of it and suddenly turned into a ray of light and shot into her forehead. Pictures of the universe began to appear in her mind as she fell onto the bed. The pain she felt at this time was so great that she could not speak. She could only grit her teeth and try to deal with a kind of pain she had never felt before.

As the light of the room filled her eyes, Jasmine immediately felt like something was off. “This is?”

“Am I dreaming?” Jasmine was very confused. In front of her was a blue transparent screen. On it was a small pop up that seemed to be a mission notice of some kind. Why she was seeing such a thing, Jasmine did not know. She only remembered a bone-crushing pain that made her want to die, and then she passed out.

“Ouch! Not a dream?”  Jasmine pinched herself as hard as she could. She really felt the pain, which meant…. “What is going on!? Am I in the matrix!?”

Jasmine could only cry out and wonder if her world had broken. She reached out and clicked the button that said okay on the notice before it disappeared and revealed the window behind it.

“I see…” Jasmine did not get it at all. She closed the pop up and looked at her menu screen. “So I guess this is a system to help me become better at things? Going by the name alone, I guess this system will make me a star. Hopefully, not a real one, though.”

Jasmine got up from the bed and almost tripped when she realized the menu screen was following her. “So wait, I have to walk around like this!? How do I close this thing!?”

It was already strange enough to have such a thing appear, but to have it follow her around was downright terrifying! Luckily, as she thought about closing the menu, the menu actually closed and was no longer blocking her view.

“Er… can I reopen it?” Jasmine was a little nervous. The window closed, which made her relieved but a little disappointed at the same time. She did not want to lose something that could help her! But when she saw the menu open again after she had thought about opening it, she came to a good understanding. “Thinking of closing it closes the menu, and thinking of opening it opens the menu.”

With the menu reopened, she realized that besides a status screen, there was also a button for a skills menu and another button that had a backpack icon. Curious, she tapped the icon, and it popped up with an inventory screen. “Don’t tell me….”

Jasmine picked up a pencil from the desk and poked it into one of the slots of the inventory. The pencil was sucked into the screen as if it was being pulled into a pool of water. It rippled for a few seconds before displaying the pencil in one of the slots. She then tapped the pencil in the inventory, and it appeared in front of her in mid air, slowly floating there. Jasmine reached out to take it, and the floating pencil regained its ability to detect gravity, and it steadily fell into her hand. “This…. Is quite cool….”
