TROA) Run In At Food Mart Part 2 (Patreon)

“Please don’t hurt us! If you want the food here, we can give it to you!” The boy quickly pulled the girl behind him so that she was more against the shelves and kicked the basket they had out towards me. I had to say this young boy was very protective. From what I could see, the two were probably twins since they looked very similar.
“I am not going to hurt you. Nor am I going to take your food. I am just going to ask if there are more of you.” I tried to speak in a less demanding voice, hoping it would ease the two kids’ nerves a bit. But I guess I still look scary because he became even more defensive when I said this.
“We…” The young boy seemed to hesitate.
“It’s okay. We will not hurt you.” Jen jumped in in a soft voice. She slowly put her weapon down, which I did the same. “We just want to know if there are more of you.”
“There is….” The girl behind the boy spoke softly.
“Becky, no! We will get beaten….” The young boy was worried.
“Who will beat you?” My eyes turned slightly cold. Someone would beat the children if they told them there were more people around!? This was about safety! If they said there were more people around, it would make those trying to either rob them or take them away be more cautious with their actions.
“Boss Amanda…” the girl answered again, causing the boy’s eyes to grow even more wary.
“I see….” I looked at Jen, who nodded and sent her one of her drones to search the mall.
“Don’t worry. No matter what, we will not allow anyone to beat you infact., I will take you to a safe place.” I walked over and knelt down in front of the young boy. He looked like he was ten years old at most. But he was such a good big brother trying to protect his sister. “You two are brother and sister, right?”
“Yes….” The boy finally seemed to relax a bit.
“You did well.” I smiled and rubbed his head. “You protected your sister well. You should be proud.”
“I….” The boy’s eyes began to tear up. I couldn’t help but pull him into a hug. I guess his emotions finally broke because he started crying his eyes out. I also pulled his sister into a hug as well. They both cried all their sorrows out at this moment.
“Ai, I found the other group on the third floor and…. You will never believe who is in charge.” Jen walked over and knelt down beside me.
“Who?” I asked as I gently ribbed the two children’s backs.
“Amanda Southerland,” Jen replied with a snort. I knew Jen hated that girl the most.
“I guess we can go deal with her then. Who else is up there?” I knew she was not alone. That was for sure.
“About three more kids around these two’s ages. She seems to be bossing them around quite nicely up there.” Jen replied.
“Hmmm…. Hehe! I just had a good idea.” I whispered into Jen’s ear. She smiled and nodded.
“We will do that then. But first, let me mark the area so we can return here.” I had to mark my teleport points, or else it would be a pain to return here.
After I made a mark, I opened a portal, which caused the two kids to cry out in shock. “Don’t worry, Big sister Jen will go through first to show you it’s safe. I am going to take you to a safe location, then I will try to save your friends, okay?”
“Okay…. Big Sister, thank you.” The boy was still red in the eyes. I smiled and rubbed his head as Jen stepped through the portal. I then held the kids’ hands and passed through it myself. We were now in the teleport room I created at the base for situations like this.
“Mom!” I called out as I brought the kids upstairs.
“Hmmm? Ai, you are back so sooooo…. Who are they?” My mom looked at the kids in surprise.
“They are survivors. There will be a few more later. Jen and I need to head back now to rescue them. Can you take care of these two and set them up in a room?” I asked as I pulled the two kids forward.
“Of course!” My mother smiled and knelt down in front of the kids. “And your names are?”
“Becky….” The girl spoke softly.
“I’m Danny.” The little boy replied. He looked a little nervous and looked back at me. I gave him a smile to reassure him that things would be okay.
“Then I will leave them in your care. Becky, Danny, my mother, and father are very kind, so if you need anything, just ask.” I rubbed both their heads before turning around and opening a new portal. Jen passed through first while I followed after.
When we arrived back at the food mart, I looked at Jen, who smiled back at me. “She is still as bad as always. Let me deal with her this time.”
“Alright.” I smiled and pulled her close. “Just make sure she suffers quite a bit before killing her. If she is hitting kids, who knows what else she is doing.”
