“I don’t either! No, wait! We are not even of the same race!” Apple Girl held her head, she seemed to be exhausted.

“Are you some kind of human elitist!? So you are saying I am not good enough for you because I am a dragon!?” I shot back. I have no idea what I was saying, but it seemed to sound right. Plus, it irked me to think that she did not find my cuteness was not worthy of her.

“No! I am not! And it is not because you are a dragon! I do not like other girls in that way!” Apple Girl was huffing and puffing. Her face was bright red. She should be careful, or she might have a heart attack.

“Anyway…” I decided to change the subject. But for some reason, Apple Girl is staring at me with her mouth wide open. “So tell me about this world. I know nothing of what is outside my little zone.”

“Ah… Right… so….” Alice did not know what to make of this talking dragon. She was all over the place. And the worst part was that the dragon did not seem to even know her name even though Alice had told her! Alice let out a long sigh and submitted to her fate.

They were currently in the Kingdom of Hildigrade, a kingdom that was situated up against a vast mountain range that was the home of the Forest Of Lost Souls. The mountain range itself was called the Soulless Mountains. It was a place that no sentient race dared to venture into due to how dangerous it was. It was the forest they were in that surrounded these mountains.

“And I am Alice Von Hildigrade, the first princess of the Hildigrade Kingdom.” After a lengthy explanation, I have learned nothing but where I am.

“Apple Girl, can you tell me more about this world and the system? Like, why do we have the system? Why does leveling up give us levels and the ability to gain more skills? And beyond that, what are the other countries and races of this world?” It seemed I needed to be more specific with my questions when it came down to Apple Girl.

“My name is Alice!” Apple girl suddenly yelled out. But I did not know why she was trying to pretend to be someone else. I think this was the second time she had stated this, but it’s kind of funny if you ask me. Since if you look at her, she definitely looks like Apple Girl.

“Yes, Apple Girl. Now about my questions.” I replied with a nod of my head. Sorry, but I did not plan to play pretend to be Alex or whoever it was that she idolized. However, she looks awfully depressed for some reason.

“Your questions! Your questions, fine!” Apple Girl sulked as she crossed her arms across her chest. She took a deep breath and started answering my questions. “First off, the system is something that the gods granted us during the dawn of the world. Because our world is filled with monsters of varying strength and dungeons that are also filled with even more powerful monsters, it allows us to survive in this world. At one point, it is said that all the races almost went extinct due to the overpopulation of monsters. A level ten monsters to the people of that time were like gods raining down destruction. It would take one hundred soldiers to kill a single level ten. This was just how much difference in strength monsters were from people.

“Once the system was put into place by one of the gods who took pity on us, we were finally able to start leveling up and gradually evening out the odds. The races rose up and started to become more powerful until they had reclaimed almost all of the land except places where the strongest above ground monsters roamed. What helped boost their strength, even though the people of that time were few, was the class system that came with the system. By becoming a grand warrior, one could kill tens of thousands of monsters with a single swipe of their sword.

“The days of old and the heroes of the past are nothing but a story. It’s rare for any race to go above level one hundred, which is a far cry from anyone ever becoming a grand warrior or grand mage.” Apple Girl’s explanation of the system was very informative.

“To rank up to these so called classes, do you need to undergo some kind of quest?” I asked out of curiosity because I had an evolution system and not a class system which I think is the difference between this world’s system and my special system.

“Yes. To become a novice warrior, mage, archer, or any other class, you will need to undergo a level twenty quest. Once you complete your quest, you will be able to gain a huge burst of power. But what you can become is based on your stats. So from an early age, once you start leveling up, you will need to carefully manage your stats.” Apple Girl explained. So they have stats. While I have nothing… Well, I would get kind of aggravated if I had to keep maintaining stats all the time. Just managing my skills is already enough. But at least skill management is fun.

“So, what level are you?” I was very curious as to what level Apple Girl was. I was also curious as to what level the black clothed guys were as well. But sadly they died so I can’t ask them.

“I am….” Apple Girl’s face was turning as red as her hair as she lowered her head and said: “Level 7….”
