I have no idea how many days have passed, but I have slept at least five times for roughly six hours each time. During this time, I have been working hard, trying to see what happens when I take in enough of this strange energy.

“Cap, we can’t stay here forever.” I heard Carlos talking with Cap. No matter how much I hate to say it, he was right. But right now, I was a liability.

“Cap… leave me here and see if you can find an exit. I will only slow you down. Just leave me a weapon and enough rounds to get by with.” This was the only logical way to go about it. We had already rigged up the entrance to this little area with makeshift tin can alarms strung up all over the place. While I did not want to die, this was the only way for all of us to survive.

“Aiya, I can…” Cap was interrupted by Thomas.

“Cap, Aiya is right. While we may get lucky and escape if we run into a monster but what happens if we get surrounded? Our chances of survival and returning here are slim. And I for one do not want Aiya to experience being eaten alive! We have all under gone solo training in case a situation like this arises.”

“Cap. Listen to him. Thomas, you and Carlos and take a look around. I have enough rations here to last four days. Just be back by then.”

“Fuck!” Cap yelled out. I know he did not like the idea of leaving me behind but what else could we do in this situation? You can’t be dragging a blind person through a death cave and hope to survive. It would be better to explore as much as you can before returning.

“Alright…” Cap started. “We will go explore the area and try to bring back some meat from one of these monsters. Once we have eaten we will then escort Aiya out of here.”

“Yes, Sir!” everyone answered at the same time.

“Aiya, I will give you a few extra rounds just in case plus a pistol.” Thomas explained while setting down a gun and a few mags. “Make sure to leave a bullet just in case. Do not let yourself be eaten alive.”

“I will be sure to off myself if that time comes.” I was not joking. I really would off myself. I by no means wanted to experience being eaten alive.

Just the thought of it gave me the shivers. I watched as Cap and the others left and turned the corner to head deeper into the cave. Whether or not they returned was another story. Normally, one of them would stay behind, but I knew the chances of survival for them would grow if they had the extra man to help retreat.

I leaned against the cold, moist rock behind me and let out a sigh. “I guess I will just get back to my vision and energy training.”

I had not mentioned the energy thing to the others all this time since I had not seen any effects of it, and it did not seem that they could see it either. I did question Carlos if he saw anything before saying it was a crazy test, but he only shook his head in answer.

I stayed in the same spot for three more days. There were no signs of the other three. No gunfire. No nothing. Whether they were dead or not was unknown. Our radios had not worked at all since coming to this strange place.

“I rationed my food enough to last three more days but that is it…” I sighed before going back to my training. I have found that I can not take in a whole strand of the energy with out any escaping. My vision had also expanded beyond the entrance. It was strange. I could not see through the walls, but I could see down the entrance of the crevice and around the corners as if my eyes were floating in the air.

It was as if I had developed some kind of far sight. This was handy, though, since I have been able to expand my range by almost three hundred feet. “Let’s home I can make some gains today.”

I have no idea how long I had been sitting there doing the same thing over and over again, but the [Level up!] In my vision suddenly changed as a dinging sound rang off in my head and was replaced with something new.

As the screens popped up one after the other in my mind, the last thing I remembered was a sharp pain that shot through my body before passing out.

When I woke next the first thing I saw in front of my eyes was what I guess can be considered a status screen from what Carlos had explained to me before.

[Name]: Aiya

[Race]: ???

[Level]: 1

[Health]: 200/200

[Mana]: 200/200

[Skills]

{Mana Sight}

To be honest, I had no idea what the hell I was looking at. I only know that this seemed to be my current condition. [Mana Sight] is probably what I am using to see at this time. I guess my current condition is not bad since everything seems full but what is this race being ‘???’ for? Did the system, I guess is what it was called, know know what a human was?

I sighed as I stood up and investigated my body. “Nothing seems off. Still feels the same. Although my eyes no longer sting. I wonder if they healed… But more importantly where the hell is Cap and the others?”

I had no idea how long I was out, so I was starting to worry. I still had food since I was basically knocked out, but that did not mean I could last much longer without hunting for something.

“I don’t want to eat raw meat but if I have no choice I will… For now I will wait until I only have a days ration left before heading out.”

I would have no choice but to venture out on my own if Cap and the others did not return by then.
