In a large room with a single red wood desk and walls aligned with bookshelves that were filled to the brim with magic books. Books that radiated mana so strong it was surprising that they were left out like this.

As Yuki looked around she noticed the floor had a very soft beige plush rug. There were also many different kinds of instruments that she had no idea what they did set out on display. It seemed that this old man really had a thing for collecting expensive things.

“Do you know why I called you both here?” The old man asked as he walked over and sat behind his desk.

“You said it earlier right? I tried to search for restricted materials. But how was I supposed to know space-time magic is a restricted subject? I mean the library itself was made with space-time magic was it not?” Yuki was trying to be well-behaved but she still could not help but question the old man. Why would a magic that seemed quite complicated be restricted?

“You do not seem to act like a girl your age. Normally when dealing with this old man they would act like your friend beside you.” The old man pointed at Lilly. Only now did Yuki turn to see Lilly standing there with fear in her eyes.

“Unlike Lilly, I am not so prone to be scared of your illusion magic. Why would you even use such a thing on students? Does it make you feel powerful?” Yuki asked as she snapped her fingers, the illusion spell that had been the cause of Lilly’s fear was broken.

“Huh? Wasn’t there just…” Lilly was confused as she looked around. She had no idea what was going on.

The old man how ever eyes widened. He never thought a student who just entered his academy would be able to break his spell. He was an eighth-circle mage! “Hmm… You are not a normal little girl. For what reason did you come to this academy?”

“To learn spacetime magic. I only need to understand what each rune does then I can work with it to create an item that can allow me to bring my friends around without issue. A pocket dimension. You see, I am not from this world to begin with. Your power ratings here are quite interesting but the way you deal with magic is really strange.” Yuki flipped her hand and condensed a small fireball within it. “This here is what I call magi qi. Sadly this world has little qi so I can not waste too much unless I have to protect myself or my friends. But the magic system of your runic circles are no different.”

Yuki had two runic circles appear behind her. She then created different elemental balls in front of her. “Each rune does not need a mathmatical equation to create something. Hell, a single runic circle can be used for every element as well. The runes are what create magic, not the equation.”

Balls of water, fire, earth, and wind danced around here as if they had minds of their own but it was Yuki moving her hands about that was actually controlling them. “To have full control, you only need to instill some of your own will into the spell. This will give a simple spell more usefulness instead of point and pray that your spell will hit its target.”

The old man stared at Yuki as if he was seeing a monster. The girl was playing with different elements as if they were toys. He had never even heard of such a thing before. He took a deep breath and tried to compose himself. “So you are saying that our system is flawed?”

“Flawed? No. It’s restrictive. While learning math has allowed you to use magic in other means of life producing magi tech the purpose of magic is not to be restrictive. Magic itself is what you convey it to be. If I wish I could make myself a tenth-runic circle magi right now.” Yuki snapped her fingers and eight more runic circles appeared. “Or even a twenty runic circle magi.”

“This!?” The old man’s face paled but slowly he realized something was wrong. “These are…”

“Good eyes. They are fake but they scared the hell out of you right? You can create a runic circle of different types. Different elements can be used at a stronger potency when using the runic circle of the same type. So you can easily continue to grow in strength with hundreds of runic circles. It will take time, of course, that is no lie but each runic circle extends one’s life does it not? So if you were to push the limits and break out of the box you have been confined to you will see what I mean. I mean even Lilly here can do this little trick now.” Yuki turned to Lilly who was still in a daze and poked her.

“Ah? What!?” Lilly looked around in confusion once more.

“Do the trick,” Yuki said before quickly explaining things.

“Okay…’ Lilly closed her eyes and after a few seconds, albeit smaller there were four elemental balls floating around her. She still had to use both her runic circles to do this.

“As you can see, Lilly who is from this world is even able to do this.”
