Hearing the familiar yet hoarse voice, Yuki slowly turned her head to see Nana lying on the bed, her eyes moist. A warm gentle smile formed on Yuki’s lips as she sat on the edge of the bed and gently leaned down, giving Nana a kiss on the lips and hugging her. “My Nana…”

“Yuki…” Tears began to roll down Nana’s cheeks. She had thought Yuki would not accept how she looked now, but it seemed her fears were unfounded.

 “Nana, I will give you some spiritual qi. Maybe my spiritual qi can help you.” Yuki gently allowed her demonic qi and spiritual qi to slowly enter Nana’s body. The feeling of having the two types of qi flowing through her body made Nana feel very warm. The weakness she had been feeling was slowly disappearing, and her cheeks started to regain some of their color.

“Thank you…” Nana whispered softly through a light sob. She was truly thankful that Yuki did not despise her. “Thank you for not abandoning me…”

“Why would I ever abandon you!?” Yuki’s eyes went wide. “Nana, you are my life. I would lose my mind and go crazy, killing everything in the world if I lost you. I can only be who I am today because of you. Never think for a moment that I would ever abandon you. I will find a way to reverse whatever happened to you, even if It means taking millions of years to do so. I will heal you no matter what.”

Nana couldn’t help but cry. All her fears were washed away. She hugged Yuki tightly and let her tears flow out. Why was she ever worried that the girl whom she fell in love with would abandon her? Have they not almost died together many times? The idea of the two of them ever being apart was what scared her the most, but now she understood clearly the thing that caused her fear was abandonment. Yuki was her family, and she was afraid of losing her family once more.

She felt stupid for not realizing this sooner, but she was glad she still did. The knot in her heart was now fully gone, and all that was left was her willingness to live and wait until the day she was healed and could proudly stand by Yuki’s side.

It took a while before Nana calmed down. Yuki told her about the happenings and the reason she was in this town in the first place. Everything seemed predestined, especially with how Nana and Rize happened to stop here.

“We will go back to where I am currently staying, and we will see if using the runic magic will help Nana at all. We will try everything we can.” Yuki made a decision. She would teach Nana how to form a runic circle, and with her understanding of how magi qi works, she would easily be able to use it, even if it was to suck the mana in the air into her to stabilize her body easier.

“That is a really good idea. I have noticed that the runic magic they use does prolong their lives. Mana seems to be a focal point like spiritual qi. If Nana can really use mana to help stabilize her condition, we will have an easier time trying to find a method of healing her.” Rize really liked this idea. She had not thought of it until Yuki had mentioned it.

“Then we will head back. But first, there is a girl I want to bring with us. She deserves a better life, and I promised to introduce her to someone.” Yuki did not forget about the maid.

After grabbing the maid, Yuki, and Rize headed to Hollen City with Nana on Yuki’s back and the maid on Rize’s back. They did not wish to waste time, so they flew swiftly through the air.

It took a day and a half to reach their destination where they were met with Lilly and Delia waiting for them in the front yard. “Yuki! Nana!” Delia cried out as she rushed over. But when she saw Nana’s condition her eyes widened and watered up. “Nana…. Wha…”

“We will figure out how to heal her. For now, let’s go inside. And Lilly.” Yuki decided to deal with the maid as quickly as possible. “This girl here needs a new home. She was kind enough to try to warn me when I was out playing. I think she will be of good use to you.”

“Alright, I will have her meet with the headmaid at my house. As long as she passes the tests she will be able to work in my house. I will even make her one of my personal maids.” Lilly would not turn down a request from Yuki.

“Good. Just know that she has had it rough with the Randles. So I hope you can go easy on her.” Yuki had to make sure this was mentioned. Lilly nodded, not saying anything else before walking over to the maid and taking her hand. “Follow me. I will bring you to my house to see the head maid.”
