It was not until night fell that I slowed my steps and made my way to the edge of the forest before disappearing in between the trees. I found a nice little hidden spot to jump back into the pagoda.

“Master.” I was greeted by Little Nine’s voice.

“Where is my mother?” I asked. I had been talking with Little Nine throughout my lunch today, so the first thing on my mind was what my mother was up to.

“She has been cleaning the house and tidying things up. I did sense her sleeping for a few hours today,” Little Nine informed me. The news brought a smile to my face, knowing that she was finally taking some time to rest.

“It’s good that she is willing to settle down and relax. There might not be much to do around here, but for now, she can relax and enjoy time as she wishes. I will need to get her some things to do when I reach town.” I replied with a smile, and then a thought hit me. “Oh, right, you said I could see your form once I open the fourth level, right? What cultivation will I need to open the fourth level?”

“You will need to at least reach the Dao Seed realm,” Little Nine answered. But the realm name Dao Seed confused me since it did not ring any bells. Maybe my memories were not there yet, or maybe I only knew certain things to a certain extent. I will need to wait and see.

“Then I will work hard so you can appear in front of us.” I really did wish to see what Little Nine looked like.

“I will be waiting.” Little Nine seemed a bit excited yet lonely. I wonder how long she had been stuck on the fourth floor.

“I will go say hi to Mother then I will begin breaking through to the qi gathering realm.” I walked into the house to see my mother busying herself in the kitchen area of the courtyard. She looked quite happy as she hummed a song she used to sing to me before bed. I walked up behind her and hugged her waist, startling her, but she did not yell at me.

“Ruo’er, you’re back.” My mother patted the hands I had on her waist before continuing her work.

“I hope what I hunted will be enough,” I said, looking at the two fat rabbits and herbs I had gathered earlier in the day.

“This is plenty for the two of us.” My mother replied. She was looking much better. Her mood had changed a lot since she came into the pagoda. I guess the stress of a hard life was slowly starting to lift off her shoulders and she was now finally able to relax and be her normal self again.

We chatted over dinner about the things I saw today during my travels, which was not much except for a few animals here and there, but even so, my mother seemed to enjoy the conversation.

After dinner and spending some time with my mother, I retired to my room, where I began working on my breakthrough. The spiritual qi in the pagoda was very dense, so it should not be an issue to break through. It was much denser than outside, making it perfect for cultivation.

“Now then… Let’s finally take in spiritual qi and begin working on breaking that barrier.” I took a deep breath and began to slowly take in spiritual qi. While my meridians were indeed stronger than normal, I still had to be careful with how much spiritual qi I took in, or I might just destroy them before I broke through and they strengthened even more.

It was a delicate process and an annoying one, but once it was over, I would have fully stepped into the world of cultivation. Breaking through to the qi-gathering realm was very easy. You take in spiritual qi, gather it at the barrier that surrounds your dantian, and then once you feel you have accumulated enough, pull back the spiritual qi slightly before ramming it head-on into the barrier.

Time ticked by, second by second until almost twenty minutes passed. I could feel the large ball of spiritual qi right at the barrier. I slowly pulled it all back at once, and with one hard shover, I pushed all the spiritual qi at once into the barrier. A shattering sound rang in my ears as the barrier to the qi-gathering realm shattered almost instantly. The spiritual I had gathered rushed into my dantain and circulated it a few times before finally settling down in a small puddle at the bottom.

At the same time, my head suddenly felt a sharp pain as more memories began to surge into my mind. This time it seemed to be some different cultivation methods. All of which were of divine rank. Techniques and cultivation methods were all ranked. Starting from mortal grade, earth grade, heaven grade, and then divine grade. Each of these grades had three ranks: low, medium, and high. The power difference between each rank could decide a fight.

Out of the cultivation methods that had entered my mind, there were two that actually stood out to me. “Dragon Sovereign Celestial Scripture and the Starlight Veil Path.”
