LZR Chapter 3 Part 4) Onward To A New Home (Patreon)

“If that day comes, I will be waiting.” Elder Ming left us with these words before leaving.

My mother sat there in a bit of a daze before finally lifting her head and looking at me. “Ruo’er, is what you said true? We will be leaving this place? Isn’t it too dangerous?”

“Mother, let me take you to place.” I took my mother’s hand and just as I was going to enter the space I heard Little Nine say: “The house is ready so this is perfect timing.”

I couldn’t help but smile as we entered the pagoda. In front of me was a courtyard. It was not very big but big enough for two people to live in. The trees and rocks that Little Nine had me get were put to good use. I was expecting the logs to be used as is, but Little Nine had actually transformed them into walls and even shingles.

My mother stared at the scene in front of her in confusion, unsure of what was going on or where she was. I chuckled slightly as I said: “This is something I happened upon while searching the forest earlier today. This is called the Nine Heaven’s Pagoda. And the one who maintains this place and even built the courtyard for us is called Little Nine.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Madam.” Little Nine was very respectful to my mother, which was nice.

“Ah yes… It’s a pleasure…” My mother seemed a little overwhelmed by all of this, but that was fine. This would now be our home as I traveled about.

“So, Mother, I will have you stay here while I make my way to the nearest town. I am sure once I follow the road, I will come upon one. One that will not look down on me due to my beautiful traits. I mean, look at my shiny scales and majestic horns!” I tried to lighten the mood a bit as I wagged my tail around. It seemed to do the trick since my mother smiled softly.

 “Mother will just do as Ruo’er says. With a place like this to hide in we should be safe right?” My mother asked.

“Mmm… I can come and go as I please, and no one will ever be able to find us. And, to raise some funds once we reach the next town, I will sell some pills. But before I can do that, I need to first break through to the qi gathering. I promise you mother, I will make sure we can live a good life. Once I have secured enough funds, I will buy a small courtyard in town, and we can use that as a cover. Until then, we will stay outside of town and just stay here in the pagoda.” I explained. I did not need to do much to break through, so I just had to wait to count the money as long as I could sell my pills.

Of course, I will do some investigation first to check pricing on quality. Each pill had rings to give them ranks. Five rings being the best and one ring being the worst. I am not sure how good of a pill I can make without a proper pill furnace, but I do believe I can at least make some restoration pills, and qi pills rank two, maybe three if I am lucky. Pill refining needed more than just a furnace, but the know-how on how to refine pills, and my head was filled with this know-how.

“Ruo’s, you can refine pills!?” My mother asks in surprise. I only nod with a smile in return before saying: “Let’s check out the courtyard.”

 We walked into the courtyard, which even had a moon gate. As I looked around, I saw that the front area had stones lining the path to the main hall. After the main hall, it opened back up to four rooms: A room used for doing your bodily business, a cooking area, a bathing area, and two rooms. There was a lot more than I had ever imagined.

 “Little Nine, you outdid yourself. How does the kitchen and the room for doing business work?” Sadly, until I reached the body fortification realm, I would still need to relieve myself no matter what.

“I used some special arrays. The doing business room, as you put it, is somethign I call a bathroom. It has a hole in the ground that will incinerate anything that goes inside it. So do not stick your hand in there even if you drop something. The bathroom also has a washing area to wash your underside. This also uses an array. As for the washroom, it also uses an array that produces cold and hot water by turning the stones there at the side. In the cooking area you have a fire array and a rock that is connected to how much flame is produced.” Little Nine’s explanation makes my head spin. How was I supposed to live in the real world with such amazing things? To think that arrays could do so much more than I ever thought they could.
