“Bring the Fallen out! Bring that thing out!”

“Kill the Fallen!”

More and more people were outside chanting, but no one had yet tried to enter the building. They were only rallying and unsure of what moves to make next. This was because four girls in black stood guard at the door, and sitting on top of the building was Lishia, who sat with her legs and arms crossed. Her menacing gaze swept over the people below, keeping everyone in check.

Inside the building, in her room, now sat the inn owner and her two daughters. Shizuku had the brought back to the inn due to the monster stampede being much larger than she had expected. “Thank you…. I know you could have just left to avoid all of this, but you stayed and are even protecting my home. This place means a lot to me and my daughters. It was the place my husband worked hard to make.”

“Kindness should be repaid with kindness. Candice, you and your daughters have treated me and my friends very well. Even though we would end up bringing you troubles you have stuck with us and did not kick us out.” Shizuku liked Candice. She was very kind, and even her younger daughters did not seem scared of her. Like their mother, they had short, bob-cut curly hair. Shizuku knew they would grow up to be beauties.

“Shizu, don’t even think about it; they are too young,” Miyumi whispered into Shizuku's ear, causing Shizuku to glare at her.

“I’m not a sick monster,” Shizuku replied with a snort. “Anyway, we will protect this place even if it is the last building standing, that is, as long as none of our lives are in danger. If something changes, we will bring you and your children with us.”

“Thank you.” Candice once more bowed her head in thanks.

The girls continued to chat for a while when a loud scream was heard from outside. “The monsters! The monsters have broken through the wall!”

“It seems like they will need to worry more about the monsters than a Fallen like me. Number One, tell the girls they can begin our plan. As long as they enter the inn they will be safe. You know what to say.” Shizuku grinned, she wondered what choice the people will make now.

Downstairs, Number One exited the building and stood before the crowd that was staring at the east side of town. “Listen here! My Master, the Vampire Princess, Shizuku, is willing to let those who want to be protected enter the inn. But you must remember by doing so you will be siding with a Fallen. Anyone who dares to cause a scene within the inn will die. No matter how little or petty the incident is.”

“Princess Shizuku is a goddess!” A woman suddenly yelled out. “I wish to enter!”

“I will enter, too!” another voice rang out, followed by a few more. Most people still stayed near the inn entrance, but they didn't speak up. They kept their eyes on the east side of town, where the monsters had broken through, hoping that the town guard could defeat them.

If they were to enter the inn now, then they would be seen as traitors and would not be able to live in this town anymore. The people who had already entered, three men and two women were already branded as traitors.

“RAWR!!!!”

“I… I will enter as well! I don’t care what you all say. Princess Shizuku is willing to protect us even when we caused a scene! If she is evil, then what are we for wanting to kill such a person!?” This was a much older woman who had lived in town for most of her life. She even prayed at the church every day. She did not wish to lose her life here.

“I will enter, too!”

“Me too!”

Because the roaring of monsters was much closer now, another twenty people decided to enter the inn leaving the crowd of around sixty people left. There were some still undecisive and some who were cursing the traitors.

Inside the inn, many people sat at the tables with their heads down. They did not know where their lives would be going from now on. As they wallowed in their unknown futures, the sound of footsteps walking down a flight of stairs was heard.

“To those who have entered, I welcome you.” Shizuku was dressed in a beautiful dress. It was a dress that had been left by a rich noble girl around Shizuku’s age. “I know you all have made a tough choice between your beliefs and your lives. But let me say that we will protect you with everything you have. Even if you decide to hate me once more after this is all over, I do not mind. But inside this inn, you can think of it as a neutral zone. No church…. No hate…. This is a place where humans and a Fallen like myself can sit and chat as if we were the same. Just like how Goddess Yunni would have wanted it.”

“Princess Shizuku, you are truly a goddess… after everything we said….” A young man knelt on the ground and lowered his head in front of Shizuku. “I am deeply ashamed….”
