I’m a history teacher and curious to know what any other history teachers or fans of history think of this…. Kicking Bird is Sitting Bull, Wind in his Hair is Crazy Horse. I think that is intentional but would love to know what others think.

LT John Dunbar would have been a Union Army soldier at the end of the CIvil War, so the movie takes place somewhere between 1864-1866, depending on how long it stretches into the future. I suppose the Sioux surrender at ft Robinson Nebraska was a historical event so I guess you could figure out when that happened and count backwards 13 years...

If you want a fantastic movie about heritage and native american culture, I'd love to see you two watch "Thunderheart" with Val Kilmer. I couldn't find any reactions to it on youtube so you'd be the first! It's a brilliant movie that takes place in South Dakota (my home state).
