Just another reminder that if you haven't to give the survey a bit of your time: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QWSSYMZ

Those who have already done the survey may have noticed some changes in my work timeline, among other things. I really do want to thank everyone who voiced opinions in the survey, it's really helping me figure out where to take my work and what to avoid.

So for a bit more of behind the scenes stuff, you can see above the mesh of the animation I posted yesterday. Simple cheerleader style outfit, no undergarments to complicate the expansion. The heatmap on the outfit indicates stress points and to no one's surprise it's all at the chest. Most difficulties for outfit animation comes from the shoulders and the back. The shoulders sometimes gain to much strain and the simulation just has it go through the arm/shoulder to relieve pressure. The back just becomes a nightmare of folds sometimes. The expansion here was small enough to not really have any issues. For this particular animation the biggest issue I faced was that notch at the bottom of the dress. That little red mark at the bottom showed some strain was occuring and cause some of the simulation to compensate by raising the skirt closer to the waist. After some property tweaking it behaved and remained stationary.

Here's the 2d viewer of the above. Each portion of the dress is neatly made, cut out, pulled, sewn etc. You can also see it's pretty pedestrian too with regards to cloth making. The front portion of the dress should have a bit more fabric for the chest, but I haven't figured out a way to do it properly. Most of my attempts cause weird creases and warping elsewhere, so I instead just fiddle with fabric properties. Maybe for the next behind the scenes I can talk a bit more about fabric properties.
