I've watched A LOT of reactors - 1% of them realize it was Hurley's vehicle and 1% of that group realize it was Hurley's psychic interviewing John. Mike is one of a kind and forgiven for not immediately saying "4 8 15 16 23 42 execute" in the cave :) Originally airing on February 16, 2010, 'The Substitute' is Episode 4 of Season 6 of LOST. It is the 107th episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.2, placing it as the #11 ranked episode of this season and #76 out of all the episodes shown so far.

Some funny details from this episode without giving away anything major.. -The psychic who works for Hugo - Hugo is the "luckiest man alive" and that's why Locke couldn't hit his car with the ramp. - Hugo owns the box company, which was mentioned in Season 1 Ep 18 (and the title of that episode is important) The next episode is one of those very special ones for me and I find it beautiful. The smoke monster killed Mr Eko because he refused to "confess". He said that he felt no guilt for what he'd done because he'd done it to protect his brother. The monster turned on him immediately.

Still to this day all these years later I still don't understand why him not confessing made him get killed. I know actor had to leave show maybe thats why it doesn't jive with whats going on

I believe (just a theory) the smoke monster killed him because after he confessed and refused to ask for forgiveness ,the smoke monster realized he would not be able to easily manipulate Eko the way John was manipulated. We know from John's past that he "amenable for coercion." That made him a great patsy for the smoke monster. You tell him that he's going to have to die, and well he'll go along with it. That kind of manipulation wasn't going to work with Eko. Smoke monster figured he wasn't going to be able to use him and in fact Eko was too big of a risk considering how strong willed he was. Better to kill him early.
