The black and white also fits binary well. 1's (white) and 0's (black). I'm not sure if that was intended, but I like that it fits. Max says that if we and everything around us are part of the spiral, then anything we put our hands to is infused within the spiral aka every action we take is the spiral. I wonder if Max, like his computer, was becoming aware, causing the spiral to melt down. That's why the stock market was crashing and why max was losing it. I don't want to type too much, but I'll say this about the drill: I think it was analagous with Eden and the Tree of Knowledge. Adam and Eve ate from the fruit and were cast out of Eden. Maybe Max drilling was a rejection of the fruit to... return to Eden (aka spiritual awareness or w/e)? He was clearly happy and unbothered at the end. I have no idea. I've had 15 years to think about it. I am not the authority on what it all means, so those are my ideas. I'd love to hear yours and others'. I'm glad you liked it.

I went to swipe my room key and stared at the room number for a good few minutes when I saw that 216. And my motherboard broke. I’m gonna take it as a sign I’m on the right track

The spiral breaking down from awareness is a thought I can get behind. It makes sense. It’s a point where does understanding it even matter? And is everything already decided? Excellent movie thank you thank you

Pi is a crazy film. I watched it when it came out in central London in one of the art house cinemas (Curzon Soho). I'm still not sure what it is about. But i also saw Requiem for a Dream there and it blew me away. And i saw Leon there -- a long time ago.
