This is the true story of Jake LaMotta. He was an advisor on the film. When he was practicing the speech for his nightclub act, looking in the mirror at the end of the film, he was quoting from the famous movie On The Waterfront. It stars Marlon Brando (age 30) playing a washed up boxer, now working as a longshoreman and involved with its crooked union. The speech is a very famous scene. If you don’t watch the movie (1954, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor), you can google, I Coulda Been a Contender, and just watch that scene.
