Hi all!

First of all, let me start with the big stuff as I don't want anyone to miss this particular bit of news: THE PATRON REWARDS ARE GETTING AN UPDATE!

1. Patreon Update

Why? Partially because I felt like 10$ tier didn't really have a significant value over the 5$ tier, and I feel like it should. Secondly, splitting the polls into 5$ and up and 10$ and up only limits the reach I get with the polls without adding any value to me or to you. From now on, all polls will be available from 5$ and up, no 10$ exclusive polls.

So that means 10$ tier just got worse? No, on the contrary, it's about to get a whole lot better. A couple of people have asked me about patron releases of the game, and I hear you, you guys are supporting the game's creation and I want you to have your generosity rewarded.

Roll the Dice 0.1.2 Hotfix 2 will be the last build of the game that will release public right away. Every subsequent build of the game will have an early access period:

10$+ Patrons will receive the build of the game as soon as it's done. The moment I hit save and upload, I will update you and provide appropriate download links.

2$+ Patrons will receive the builds with 7 days delay.

14 days from initial Patreon release, the public build will release on TFgames and any other website that I might be using at the time.

If anyone isn't happy with the changes, now would be a good moment to switch to a lower Patreon tier.

2. Poll results

Both polls are now concluded and so I want to take a moment to address them.

1st poll regarding staggered releases turned out to be fairly balanced, way more than I had anticipated in fact. About half of you prefer smaller, frequent builds, while the other half prefer to wait longer and get BIG GIRTHY UPDATE. Well there's no good way to really combine the two, but I figured out what could possibly be the next best things. I will attempt to divide every big update into chunks, and have these chunks more or less fully done in each partial build. As an example:

0.2.0 will feature 4 major paths the players can take, depending on the actions in VR world.  Instead of releasing this in one big chunk, or doing all 4 paths at the same time, releasing a placeholder filled mess, I think the best option would be to divide it into 4 builds:

0.2.0 A - 1st path done
0.2.0 B - 1st, 2nd, 3rd paths done
0.2.0 C - all paths done.
0.2.0 - all paths done, any additional ideas implemented, hopefully no bugs.

Not saying it'll work out exactly like that, but this is the idea I'm running with now.

The second poll was regarding switching the IRL player model to the paper doll system we are using in VR. The vote was very one sided and I am happy with the result, the procurement has already begun on upgrading the paper doll to facilitate that change.

3. 0.2.0 news


As some of you might have seen, the work on 0.2.0 has already begun. While 0.1.2 Hotfix 2 will feature some upgrades and fixes to the existing content, 0.2.0 will just about double the size of the game as it is now. The storyboard for this update has been drafted and is being tweaked and upgraded. Full insight into the content of the storyboard is available to 15$ Patreons on Discord/Trello Whiteboard.

This update should also implement some changes to the VR content, so it is highly likely that the saves from previous builds will not be compatible, though I will do my best to have them work.

In addition procurment has started on original character designs and models for Felix, Clax and Brindall, however I don't know if these pieces will be done for 0.1.2 Hotfix 2 (unlikely) or 0.2.0 (more likely).
