Nice, great stuff Alch. It's amazing how quickly the game changes relatively speaking.

It’s crazy to see how much the game has changed in such a short time. Do you think this speed & trajectory will continue into the future? Example: Moore’s Law 🤔

Oh man what a crazy game to go back and break down, it's so interesting watching the same core we are so used to making all the right plays being on the other side as the young guys going against the vet spurs who have been there done that. My gosh Parker and Manu were terrifyingly good. This was fun Alch, thx for all the work you put in man.

Great breakdown!! And yes, it would be interesting to see that Memphis game, especially what adjustments they made to tilt the series.

Appreciate the breakdown Unc !

That last shot is the biography of Mark Jackson. Jackson prides himself on being a religious leader, a preacher, a moralist. He sees his job as not just winning games but also instructing young men on the rules of a good life. Over the course of a season that can help him get the most out of most coachable players. But in that moment, with the season on the line, Jackson is exactly the wrong person to be making the big decision. In his mind Jarrett Jack had earned the right to take that last shot on account of all the good things he’d done for the team all season. What was needed was an ‘immoral’ coach who would give the shot to the best shooter no matter what the rules said.

2013 was the year the Spurs lost to the Heat where Ray Allen made the famous 3 pointer to tie game 6. This version of the Spurs was inferior to the 2014 version because that was the year Pop really developed the motion offensive scheme and diced up the Heat in their finals rematch en route to a 4-1 series win. Kerr saw how flawless that system was and wanted to adopt that system as a head coach. I remember Kerr interviewed for both the Warriors and the Knicks head coaching positions at the end of the 2014 season. That was back when Phil Jackson was the president of the Knicks. Kerr ultimately made the right decision in rejecting his former coach and the rest is history.

You are right, this really was Memphis g1 in a way in terms of the old vs young battle, only difference was we didn’t get the benefit of the calls in both games. Looking back at this series, 2022 Steph really would’ve destroyed these traditional defensive coverages, oh wait, he just did lol

Steve Kerr is also not that guy though, we’ve definitely complained about Steph not getting the ball in game winning situations. At the end of the day it’s more of a Steph personality issue more than coaching, I think 2021 and 2022 Steph really woke up in a way in terms of demanding stuff on the court

Andres Lozano

I think even 15-16 Steph bad a chance against the Spurs even though our key other guys were younger and less good

Year 15-16 mvp Steph would've destroyed the Spurs if he's healthy. Hell, even 2013 Steph kinda destroyed the Spurs individually, Pop straight up called him MJ after the series. The coaching staff just didn't press the right buttons for the team to have a chance

Love this style of breakdown--you should do the famous Curry at MSG game next
