I wouldn't be a Patreon if you were pumping out content every day that I could find everywhere. These podcasts/breakdowns are worth the wait. Hope you don't get too burnt out with the pressure. Thanks for everything!

My Opinion on the Goalkeeper conversation. I played Goalie for about 11 years, started at 5 yrs old, but didn't grow enough to take the next step to the highest youth levels. And the transition to basketball when I was 16 wasn't too difficult, not saying that I'm anymore than your average hooper, but there are nuances that translate well, the hands obviously and getting good contests off of either leg, being comfortable with the ball in your hands etc. As far as the transition from basketball to a goali goes, I think there's a limit to how far athleticism gets you, especially the modern goali has to be above average as a footballer, but aside from that the art of goalkeeping is not jumping high and being tall, it's understanding angles, being in the right spot at the right time 5 to 10 times a game with very little room for error and having goalkeeping specific reflexes and/or instincts. And like you said, these are things that are developed between the ages of 10 to 14. So no, I don't think there's is a niche for college basketball players to transition into playing goalie, anymore than there are places in the world where you can make a living as a professional or semi professional basketball player, it's just a matter of commitment and probably going places you never heard of.

Take your breaks when you need em alch. But since the hezi was dropped its been a real inconsistent 6 months. Theres no shade in this comment, just tryna keep it a buck. Feels like you been uninterested since the team has been shit (to me that means january). Would be great to have you back on a regular schedule, the podcasts were great, enjoyed them a lot more than the breakdowns.

athleticalchemy

Inconsistent in what tho? In the 3 months since it’s been dropped I have provided longer versions of HVS the whole time. Just not as many short EPs. If I missed one there was always something in it place like the wiseman tapes. Next season if more pods is what everyone wants than that’s what it will be as the big game tier.

You set the standard as far as output. I salute & always use you as a point of reference. Other than that, we’ll be here! We definitely want you to take some time for yourself outside of this as well. ☯️Balance

Yo Alch - would it be possible to have a non-Searchable private URL where we can subscribe to the Patreon-only via podcast apps and auto download it and all that jazz? So basically you just put the secret subscription URL in the welcome email from Patreon. A bunch of folks do that and it seems to work out.

If we flame out early I'd get a little wild restructuring the roster. Move Draymond, Wiggins, and Wiseman and make sure we get a competent big in return. Promote Poole and Kuminga to the starting lineup to make up for some of the playmaking and defensive versatility we lost from Draymond but with the obvious benefit of scoring potential. If Moody takes a leap anytime soon he also becomes an ideal fit for a small ball lineup. Imo if we try and hold on to the core for too long it will all fall apart

My bad, its 3 months not 6. But the pods (hezi and HVS) were almost better than the episodes just cuz theres so much more to cover and discuss, both in the NBA and sports in general. I personally prefer them. Especially when the dubs are stinking up the place, the pods really come up clutch. And the extra breakdowns are appreciated but I can hear how painful it was for you to watch those Wiseman G-league games lmao. I'd be hella mad having to cover that game but I get a lot of people were requesting it. Loving these scouting report videos too

Alch, what is in your opinion, the prototype “big man” for the Warriors? Looney is great in his role but you have done a good job educating me as to the style of play that Looney isn’t suited for. Do you have a “top 3 bigs” in the NBA that you would want Bob Myers to target regardless of how this season ends?

athleticalchemy

Yeah I kinda got choose between extra patron content, or more consistent pods. Maybe I’ll put up a poll. I appreciate the feedback Edgar

athleticalchemy

I think Myles Turner was a perfect fit, with Dray ideally you have a big who can spread the floor some. the Lopez bros would fit well. Capela would be a monster for us obviously I like Val.. lot of guys would fit, but as always at what cost?

That sounds good but will those moves free up enough money to add enough depth? Maybe since Wiggs could be resigned for way less than he makes now will make it worth hanging onto him

Alch, you think you'd be able to James on a pod sometime in the future when yall get time. I always enjoyed yall chemistry on the older pods from back in the day

Suns just waived Center Frank Kaminsky - what ya think?

Hey alch this is unrelated to basketball but I’m super pumped to finally join the Patreon loved your content forever and I still go back to that rockets game 6 reaction lmao keep up the great work go dubs

Admittedly a delayed reply, but I appreciate your perspective to my question. Interestingly, I transitioned to goalkeeping the same age you gave it up, around the time I realised my 18 second 100m didn't really translate to a successful outfield career. I haven't had any goalkeeping coaching beyond the lesson of keeping my body in between the ball and the centre of the goal, and I play at the second highest level of local amateur football in Sydney (Division 2 of 11). I get that by the time you get to D1 level, you have been the best basketball player in every team you've been in for a decade, so maybe it isn't the best time to change your mind, and obviously there are nuances to goalkeeping that are difficult to pick up when you are a year or two away from graduation. I still think that–just as NFL fans have postulated about how successful LeBron would have been as a Tight End–it would be hilarious to watch elite NBA athletes soaring through the air to pluck a thunderbolt out of the top left corner. No reason for billionaires like LeBron to transition, but maybe the guys who were almost NBA talents could utilise their superhuman athleticism to dominate as shot-stoppers.

Keep Dray! He's part of the chemistry. Look how they lost when he was out. Also he's been loyal. GSW should reward that loyalty. Breaking that trust is about the same as being bandwagoneers. We can stick with Dray.
