Awesome game, and loved your coverage Alch. Mavs are fun to watch!

What are the chances of these clippers getting swept?

Major Powers

What would you give up for Kawhi, alc?

Anonymous

Good shit Alch! The offensive displays were incredible in the first half. I like your Luka comparison to Bron, especially considering if this Clippers squad can’t guard him - who can in the West?

Anonymous

Shit at this rate two way wiggs might be enough! Remember he can walk for nothing i think..

The clippers defensive scheme reminds me of that first warriors super team vs cp3/harden rockets series where the rockets used to send half assed screens at the warrior players and the warriors just willingly gave the switch without any resistance. The clippers have two of the best wing defenders apparently, but I never see either of them put any effort into fighting over the screen. Sure, Luka will inevitably get the switch at some point, but by making Luka work to get that switch, the Clippers help waste the shot clock and can force Luka into a more rushed shot rather than comfortably taking his time to toy around with Beverly/Reggie/Zubac.

I would have loved to see steph react to double teams the way Luka did. Anticipate the double, quickly move it and then another pass to the open man.

Jansen E

I would love a Mavs-LAL matchup just to see the Lakers lose. But both LA teams are highly overrated.

Keep grinding g. Appreciate all of the content

I think Luka being that much taller than Steph, it allows him to survey the court from high up earlier and easier.

Hey alc, if Kawhi left the clippers to join another team. Do you think the warriors should trade for Paul George? What do you think would be a realistic trade package?

Russ

Porzingas gets broken down by first PG and then Kawhi and both times he looks to the ref. and puts his hands out asking for a bail out. Funny thing is neither time did either PG on the lefty in and out, nor Kawhi on the spin, even touch him. How far have these players sunk to pussy out and beg the refs for a call or sympathy on plays like this. This is the NBA playoffs, he's a ref, not your Mom. Never touched him and he's still instinctively bitching to the refs? Come on, go home get better.. I wish the hands out looking at the ref like a soccer player, yelling "hey" or "and one" every damn time anyone shoots in the paint would stop. It's starting to wear on me, have a sack, stop falling on the floor and twitching like you're dead LeBron. Is the NBA game too physical for you, any time you want you are blowing through people on your way for a layup, stop diving, it's below you.

Quick question for you Alc. Is Luka the best "mismatch" hunter now? (Given how hobbled LeBron looks) Is he the best player in the West? Personally I'd take him over Jokic just because he creates his shots from the perimeter, which is more dynamic and reliable come crunchtime. This Mavs team has me really impressed. The way they started their regular season, I thought they were due for a major regression. Really excited to see how the clashes of high powered offenses (Brooklyn, Dallas) vs high powered defenses (Lakers, Bucks) plays out in the postseason.

Luka is the perfect combination of LeBron, James Harden, and Dirk, he's got bits of each of their bags and its payin dividends for him. If he can get in amazing shape, and get even stronger he'll be unstoppable. Then also if the defensive end of the court comes around its a wrap. Just need some free agents to roll into dallas and they'll be runnin for a couple chips for years to come

After seeing Luka magic in a couple playoff runs against some of the elite, at what point are people taking him over Giannis? I mean down the stretch, in the 4th quarter, I'm taking Luka any day. If Luka can make a conference finals run and make the Lakers sweat I think hes knocking on the door of top 5 in the league.

Right when p bev went down on that screen, my son and I looked at each other and said "oh, yeah" ... we share the hate for that dude.

Natto Santo

Luka reminds me of young Bird. He will just score on you with all kinds of shots and meanwhile get all players involved. He also control the pace of the game. The other team cannot rush him or makes them turnovers. He is better than young LBJ. The obvious weaker link in Dallas is PZG. He is so injury prone, he may not last even the first round. If PZG stays healthy, Mavs can go real deep. Luka surprisingly is not a good FT shooter, it could potentially hurt Mavs in close games.

If I was bob, I’m trading up to get Jalen green in the 2021 draft.

Jerry Heverly

I've said for two years that the Clippers can't go far in the playoffs with Zubac. He is a net minus. But Porzingus is, too, and not just defensively. He screws up the entire Mavs offense by playing on the perimeter. Whichever of these teams advances, I expect they will bow out at the next level, two fundamentally flawed teams. They thought pairing the two Europeans would anchor the team but it's Hardaway who is Luka's true soul brother.

Anonymous

I'm so happy that the Warriors automatically get either Kawhi or Luca, whoever loses this series

Anonymous

Yep FT shooting is his Achilles heel. Any player on that level that draws that much attention and drives consistently to the basket needs to shot at least 85% from the strip.

The thought of several teams imploding in the wake of these playoffs is intriguing for the league as a whole. This seemed like a fun game to watch couldn't watch it live as I was working so very much appreciate the breakdown. As crazy as it sounds as much as I want the dubs to swing for the fence in the off season Kawahi does not really interest me. Neither PG despite their obvious skills and talents. We have more pressing positional needs anyway. Now not that he is likely to leave Dallas but I love me some Kleber.

Anonymous

You do realize this isn't possible unless both teams agree to some kind of trade?

Anonymous

Luka is basically a bigger version of D'Lo in his pace control. It's crazy because his baby fat tells me he's probably not even in optimal shape right now.

Anonymous

No. Do not trade for PG lol. he would blow up the chemistry.

Anonymous

a full week of playoff games and we only get 1 breakdown? I love ya alch but I feel like we should get the same number of games as if the warriors were in the playoffs. Even moreso for the big-game breakdown patreons

athleticalchemy

I’m going to pick it up! This podcast takes way more energy and time than you can imagine. But I’m going to refocus on the breakdowns just needed a lil breather man..
