This game was ridiculously hard to watch. Refs just bogged down any enjoyment

Anonymous

The game was 48 minutes and there were over 50 fouls called. That’s an average of over 1 foul a minute. I’d rather watch a paint drying contest on ESPN the ocho! The Association needs to do something about this. And if you call a technical on a player or coach that gets them ejected, and it was a mistake, why can’t they come back into the game? Your mistake is costing that franchise! Can’t just throw up the oops! Fine that dude or something. Anyways I feel bad you had to go through this again and review but that’s how you make your bread and we appreciate you Alch.

No sir, no sir, no sir.....I have not once complained about Jordan Poole not getting enough playing time (even though I promised myself to not mention JP's name or comment on his play for the first 20 games and now I have violated my own rule). Damn. I would complain that last night seemed to be a complete failure of KYP or perhaps the players just not following the KYP.

Anonymous

Those refs. Smh

Anonymous

Why does 19 year old Nico Mannion already have a higher basketball iq than Wanamaker😐

Anonymous

The first quarter was just umm wtf as Knicks had never dropped 40 in a qtr this season until last night. The constant fouling was also an issue as it seemed like that was their MO...to get Dubs to foul. And I feel if Oubre doesn't show up, then it puts that much more pressure on Steph, Wigs and the bench to score more.

Anonymous

This was a brutal loss. They could've been 3 games above .500 going into Utah, now they will likely be .500 again after Utah. Could've defined their season with this win, pathetic.

Anonymous

Saturday will be multi-screen between the return of mistic mac and the dubs... btw any take on saturdays fights?

Anonymous

Looking at the positives in this game Nico is going to be a beast he put some more weight on him and he’s going to be a problem his IQ and fit with this team is insane

Anonymous

Thank you Unc for making it through this game. I cut off early fourth and missed the Steph gem. That's MAJOR because we all know Steph loves to hang his head at times so that shows the type of growth you love and want too see.

Anonymous

Also I gotta say I agree and disagree with your Wiseman take I think maybe rn it might not be the best looks for him but he can definitely knock down those shots, he’s still young and the game is still slowing down for him he looked like he just rushed those jumpers. Once he calms down he’ll knock those down with ease I promise

Anonymous

57 fouls? man. one of those games man. the worst for me was the play before half, kerr subs in poole lee and steph (y'know, shooters) and wanamaker tries to do his dumpy diaper layup drive to beat the clock on Robinson and got stuffed like a turkey. who does he think he is sometimes? i dont want brad the keebler elf shooting 6 threes a game. would have been a good game to rest steph/ and wiggins for the quad. bazemore still trying to play pokemon out there "gotta hack em all" 😂😂😂

Anonymous

Yeah 100% agree on Draymond's ego being bruised whenever he is left open like that. We know couple years ago he had a huge argument with Kerr on shooting 3s in 2016. He has a bit of a LeBron syndrome when it comes to not taking responsibility for his faults. Like I mentioned since the first game, Bazemore and Wanamaker have poor discipline on defense. There was a technical on Bazemore and he still kept playing with hyper aggressive defense out of anger and could have been called for even more fouls.

Anonymous

Alc you hit it on the head with nobody getting up for Knicks and the warriors feeling themselves. I think Kerr was feeling himself too which is why he was so pissed postgame for believing the squad turned the corner vs San Antonio. The dubs are not good enough to not game plan for a team no matter who we playing...

Anonymous

That “pass’ that Draymond fed to Wiseman was ALL on him. And then he’s cussing out the rookie for his fuckup. It was a garbage play by him. I love Dray but he never takes responsibility for his bonehead moves.

Anonymous

Bro it's 15 games in, we are not even 25% of the way there. The seeding will look completely different 55 games from now.

Anonymous

Worst refs in nba history

Anonymous

Lol I know right?! I’d much rather have that lil leprechaun on the court. Even with his size he seems to create more shots penetrating than the troll.

Ezra Abbey

we're gonna have to learn to play without draymond, he could easily foul out or get ejected come playoff time and we can't just fall apart like we did last night. someone needs to be the vocal leader if dray isnt there.

Jerry Heverly

I repeat: lecturing someone in front of a few thousand TV viewers is not a way to teach. Would KD still be a Warrior if Draymond wasn't like this???........The storyline is simple, the second game of a back to back, the home team is tired with no compelling reason to be up for this game.

athleticalchemy

when you put it like that dang...appreciate the empathy! Im good with it so long as its not 2 or 3 in a row like this .

Anonymous

We need a big, big. Where is JaVale?

athleticalchemy

it was cool to see, and could help him not be such a moper sometimes if he takes on that responsibility more.

Anonymous

Alch I’m surprised you’re able to remain calm after that ref job last night. I was heated last night but should’ve taken a deep breath. I thought it was interested how posed Kerr was after the game, not at the refs (publicly at least) but at our sloppy play and constant fouling. I felt pretty hard done by, but I think Kerr is using this as an opportunity to fire the team up again after we got a bit cocky and underestimated the Knicks.

athleticalchemy

You right it can eventually be a part of his game. I just think they have made it a point for him to play in the paint as a big and not pick and pop but then you run pin downs?

Russ

Loved Wiseman on the boards, I think he is getting it, like they used to say about Shaq when he started out. "If he ever figures out how big he is he's going to be scary" I've got some of the same hope with James.

athleticalchemy

LMAO you right forgot about that one.. I think I might have just unconsciously tuned him out last night. like the game was ugly I couldn't deal with his play on top of it

Jansen E

Well if that game didnt show how important Draymond is in terms of directing guys to do their job and communicate, I dont know what will. That was a disgusting show of "basketball". I absolutely hate teams that PURPOSELY try to play out of rhythm, live at the line, and never once actually have 180 seconds of continuous play. This is worse than the 2015 Bucks and the early grind play Grizzlies. Those teams at least played good defense and got into their rhythm. Thibodeau just has a disgusting style. Glad the Warriors lost though. Had they won back to back heading into Utah, they wouldve gotten a rude awakening. That Utah game will probably be the hardest real test of the season. NICOOOO!! I liked what I saw in the few minutes he got. Didnt score and his shot is suspect, but his playmaking ability and vision were already put on display and the dude can be pretty good very soon if he keeps getting minutes. Last thing.............has there ever been a more predictable player to get layup attemps stuffed at the rim? Like holy actual fuck. How many damn times is Wanamaker gonna attempt a stupid ass layup and get it swatted off the court. The dude just continues to destroy my soul.

athleticalchemy

I feel like Wiseman is the type to understand thats just what its gonna be with Dray and it aint personal

athleticalchemy

got to be EP right? maybe eventually Wiseman... As nice as it was to see form Steph last night we know that is not his style

Daniel Fries

Yeah not being a baller I don't feel like a great judge of it but Draymond's tone of voice with Wiseman the other day would annoy me if I had to live with that the whole time. Maybe it's part of a plan to keep his ego under control from the start as Alch was talking about a couple videos back.

Anonymous

I'm way too invested in this stuff. I had dreams of talking with Warrior ownership about their coaching staff... that went nowhere! And that just was a mirror of how I am feeling about the coaching staff right now from the Warriors. I've been back and forth on this throughout this season. Is Kerr just a small ball/ beyond the arc, coach. He was never a point guard in the league and I wonder if he understands another way to play, ya know, old school. This game was a mess and part of that no doubt was NY's plan. But at the same time, when things were just goin' shitty, for some beautiful reason, he let Nico get a chance to play. And immediately I could sense that there was some intelligence on the floor. Nico is really a basketball savant, who just doesn't have his shot yet. And so then this Nico is making clean crisp set-up passes to Wiseman, Paschall, etc, and you could sense that when he had the ball in his hand, there was some coherence and stability on the court. And what does Kerr do. Take the guy out after just a few minutes... and then he plays Brad?! What? I dont see what the Warriors like about Wanamaker. My god, for a veteran, he does so many, boneheaded plays. Misses obvious passes to Wiseman in the post, crappo layups into shot blocking, seems about as aware of the other players on the floor as my stoned housemates. Nico has an upside. Kerr needs to honor this and give him some time to grow. And I don't want to hear about his inability to shoot threes. Jason Kidd was a great, instinctual player who shot like crap and still was an all-star. This is Wanamakers top already. (I'm sure hes a nice guy). But Kerrs insistence that even the center shoot 3's is ridiculous. I wonder how Shaq would have done with Kerr. And then there is the utilization of Wiseman. Why, in gods name, is he preferentially shooting these moving 3s for and not being utilized in the post. That's where he has an advantage, not at the three point line. I'll never understand, with his size and athleticism, why he is not being taught a few simple post and dunk moves – we saw a drop-step spin move last night, where are more of these?! And another thing. Have you noticed that because Kerr doesn't want Wiseman leaving his feet that we haven't seen those great blocks we saw in the beginning of the season. His coaching staff is bleeding that ability out of him because they are so concerned that he will bite on pump fakes. Now I'm sure Wiseman won't want to jump and block anything for fear of doing bad by coaching staff. Beginnings are such delicate times. Be careful Warriors, you can screw this up for this kid and his talents. Dammit Kerr, this is not a 3 point all star shooting team. I really wonder if we had got LeMelo, if Kerr wouldn't have still run his motion offense and we would have also crapped out LeMelo's career? Ahhhh ..., it concerns me, that I can see that Nico has more court awareness than Wanamaker, but the coaching staff doesn't. I mean it's obvious. Uhg!

Nathan Glanzer

It's absolutely ridiculous to me that the refs can make a game changing mistake and they don't have an repercussions at all. It's pathetic how they treat the refs as some sort of god when everyone else is subject to fines but the refs can be as pig headed, stubborn, and just bad as they want to be. If that ref ever officiates one of Dray's games again if I was him I would protest it by sitting out haha. On another note. Should they change the Tech rule to have different types of techs? One that actually can get you sent out for like physical altercations and stuff. But verbal stuff you could just keep getting technical fouls. Maybe after the second they start counting as personal fouls? The current rules of whatever the ref says go and the ref can just decide they don't like a word or how it was said is archaic and asinine.

Anonymous

Manion's style of play reminds a bit of Dave Twardzik (Portland guard of the 70's who worked for the Warriors front office), he is small but dogs the ball.

Anonymous

This where I’m at I feel like we have enough to get into the playoffs So when we lose along the way, and I know we could beat that team in a series, I ain’t mad at it If Dray didn’t get the faulty boot, we most likely would have kept it closer and it would came down to the wire or we would of done one of our new signature come backs and blow out :-)

athleticalchemy

Hehe I’ve had similar dreams.. Wiseman not leaving his feet thing bugs me the most! I wonder if something is being misinterpreted or communicated. A lot of times with young players they take things too literally. Because if that’s how they want him to protect the rim, then we got a problem. I think Kerr in a lot of ways is still new to coaching. He hasn’t really had to deal with rotations where it’s not clear who to play and how to go about figuring that out.

athleticalchemy

That’s a interesting idea.. maybe just have verbal fines Dray gets hit for 15k in 1 game he might be more polite

athleticalchemy

You can really see his lack of length but I think he can make up for it if he is gonna dogs the ball. He has definitely put in some muscle

Anonymous

One thing I don’t think I hear more people talk about is what happens to our defense if Draymond misses another game or multiple games. We looked defensively lost out there when he left. Can we stay connected without him?

Anonymous

Yes thus the comparison, Twardzik had no business being the third guard on Portland's best team ever. He had no size, no outside shot, no athletic abilities other than quick on his feet, but he was elusive, smart, all effort, could stay in front of the ball, and take a charge on anybody and was willing to take the continual punishment his style of defense and offense dished out on both ends of the floor. I think Manion will eventually find his outside shot but he'll never be a primary scorer.

athleticalchemy

The PnR coverage just disintegrates.. Chris’s was really coming along in that area as well as being a voice out there defensively

Anonymous

No that's Steve Javie. The Warriors never got fair calls when Javie called a Warriors game. N E V E R.

Anonymous

Yeah your definitely right about Chriss showing highlights of quarterbacking the defense but I worry about whether or not his spot has been taken with Paschall's emergence as a solid back up small ball 5.

Anonymous

Jordan Poole is supposedly a gym rat but every time I see him he looks smaller to me.

Anonymous

I still rememeber in Curry's game back with Wiggins last season with no Draymond, he was the one making all the defensive callouts. So he definitely becomes more vocal when Draymond isn't there like you said

Anonymous

James Wiseman's defense is being ruined by Steve Kerr and Draymon Green right in front of our eyes. He doesn't fucking jump when contesting a shot, he doesn't do chase downs when he got beat. He just stands there with his hands up like an idiot, defending like he is a guard. Jesus Christ let the kid show his physical talent

Anonymous

I think his spot is safe bc EP and Chriss have proved the can play together, plus we struggle rebounding and marquis will most definitely help us with that

AK

i gotta say, Alchemy's funny takes and the comments from the community out here give me the best laughs after horrible games like these. Salute from Australia

Anonymous

Man I love Nico, holy freaking crap he's a smart rookie. He seems to fully understand our offensive concepts and has great ability to draw defenders and dish it. Now about the game I feel like this is a game where if we were playing one of those back to backs we would blow these guys out in game 2. A young team coming off of an upset over the champs and a blowout of the spurs we were feeling ourselves too much and we're on the backend of a back to back, I kind of saw it coming. Also I'm honestly kinda glad Draymond got ejected, if he would have stayed we probably would have somehow snuck a win out of a game we had no business being in and not learn enough from it but a blowout gets your attention

k. marcelous

I'll never look at RJ the same 🤣

Anonymous

And of course the Knicks then proceed to shoot 38% from the field and 5/22 from 3 against the Kings last night. If only we played them on the second night of a back-to-back. To their credit, though, Knicks played great defense, made their shots, and had generally a bigger team than the Warriors. Just how it goes. Draymond getting ejected with the now-rescinded 2nd tech is up there with Tim Duncan getting ejected by Joey Crawford for laughing in 2007. If the refs knew it was a mistake, why not review the call and rescind it? Makes no sense to me. It does show how important Draymond is to this team, since the team had no momentum after his ejection. It also doesn't help that JTA was inactive, since he's about as close to a Draymond stopgap as there is on this team. The Mannion minutes were surprising, but he looked poised running the offense. If he can start making shots, he'll have a place in the rotation next season.

Anonymous

Yeah, this type of gameplay is the complete opposite of why I watch the game. Gotta agree I'm glad we lost this one. We're gonna have to lose chunk of these 82 games...I hope each of these losses helps keep everyone in line and hungry.

Anonymous

Honestly, I'm cool with the bad-call and the loss because I don't think we were gonna win the game anyways. I'm hoping that this bone-headed call & game by the refs earns Draymond SOOOME goodwill with the refs because I still think they kinda hate him.

Anonymous

You should be able to learn more from losses than wins. Honestly, the level of play we're getting so far is far exceeding my expectations for the season. This is a FUN ASS season!

Anonymous

Well, the whole point for Wiseman is to build fundamentals. I'm not gonna disagree with you that it's frustrating as hell to watch, but hopefully it will pay dividends in the future. The kid is a long way from having the game slow down for him so that he can always make the right basketball play.
