Without a doubt in my mind I would go with Gordon. Not only does it just feel right in my soul I firmly believe that Magic is a awful organization. He would be coming back home so that's a big plus for him and he would be able to play to his strengths more. I do think his 3pt will go up and the the winning culture and the love our fans give will make his WANT to play there. Imagine Gordon doing a electric dunk in the new arena!!! Would be straight crazy! Aaron doesn't have that distracting personality and wouldn't butt heads with Kerr. Aaron would without a doubt be the better pick short AND long term. Kelly looks like Nick Young just younger. Not a bad player but man oh man he's highs are high and his lows are low.

I think I’d take AG in that situation for sure

Love the idea of Gordon but for me it's Oubre for a couple reasons. Most importantly, Gordon doesn't fit in our exception, so we would have to make some type of deal to preserve that space this summer and then trade for Gordon at the deadline. Also like you said we won't be able to get anyone of interest using their pick. Oubre if at the very least attainable and will allow us to have a swing at a lottery selection. All this being said if Gordon was within our exception I'd rather have him. It's pretty clear our death lineup needs a HB type replacement to guard 3-5. LeBron, PG, and Kawahi all are just too big for Wiggins and Klay in a full playoff series. Gordon would be a tremendous help. Maybe we snag Oubre and flip him for Gordon at the deadline 😅

i really want our team to go back to that savvy defensive minded game we had in 2015 and 2017. for that to happen we need length so if devin vassell, saddiq bey, are availiable i would take aaron gordon, but i feel like the warriors can ask for more especially if the magic are eager to get rid of ag's contract. maybe a vet wing from their roster. same for the suns. if we can get saddiq bey for our 2nd pf behind dray, then we go after ouebre. our pf and sf would have a nice balance either way. the main priority for the warriors is length and strength defensive so it can happen.

Easy I rather take Gordon and pick up a backup pg with high upside like a Kira Lewis.. that combo will also compliment Steph because Kira scores with his quickness. If he learns as much as he can from Steph he will be a really nice addition. Or we could take another wing for depth but I wouldn’t because next years draft is full of wings.

What do you think of Derrick jones jr?

Gordan for sure. Iggy replacement

I like Gordon but he’s is too expensive for stats that are barely up to EP’s. Maybe he’s being played out of position but there’s no excuse for defensive numbers like his when he can almost literally, jump out of the gym. We need the right kind of athleticism; the kind that can put defensive pressure on the opposing team the way Iggy did. Kelly is like 70% of Wiggins’ talent but 200% of the attitude. I’d prefer him if we didn’t have to trade a wiseman or okongwu pick for him. I know it’s early to judge but look at Bol Bol out there. You can’t tell me Wiseman or Okongwu could not do that in a few years.

AG is my guy for sure. Just dont know about losing that pick

I'd take Gordon but the front office has to take in account that his injury history isn't so solid.

Imagine the amount of dunks and lobs AG would get if he played for us. I can imagine Dray throwing those lobs like he loves to do. I like AG also because of his defensive potential, I think he just fits our system and culture. His 3 pointer is real suspect though... Him and Dray on the floor together could be super problematic.

Anonymous

So if we got AG, what would be the starting lineup? Would it be small ball with AG at the 4 and Dray at the 5? or would AG come off the bench?

Anonymous

Gordon makes more sense.

athleticalchemy

Not sure.. you know Kerr he will start anybody, it’s who finishes. But yeah that would be the new death lineup

athleticalchemy

I think it’s about targets rather than positional need.. they probably have 2-3 guys that they like in the back of the lottery. Lot a people like Kira tho.. I need to take a look at him.

athleticalchemy

AGs contract is front loaded it ain’t bad.. I feel like Bey will be gone by 15 but I agree, trade back for Bey and get an impact player.. that would be ideal.

Couple of Oubre red flags for me. One, I ain't buying that Tsunami Papi name he keeps trying to brand for himself. Two, when he was on the Wizards I remember an in-game scrap where he came in and hit Killa Klay in the head. That being said I think he can play well here, but not worth the risk.

athleticalchemy

This is true, I believe there is a way around it. But it would Lock Orlando into some sort of hard cap for the season. But technically you can trade a player with the exception. Or Bob the magician could use it on another player and pull a fast flip to Orlando.

If it’s between AG and Oubre I would pick AG. He seems like a better personality fit as well as a better positional fit. The impression I get from Kelly Oubre is of an immature frat boy who is all about himself and not the team. The thing I love about Golden State is the team mentality and the culture. If Gordon could stay healthy he would be the guy

Off topic, anyone else think watching basketball in an empty gym with no fans kind of sucks? I know these are just scrimmage games with nothing on the line so maybe that’s contributing my sense of ennui but I can’t bring myself to give a shit. Who knows? Thoughts?

Anonymous

I agree post season results has massive sway in this. Mentally, ur onto something Alc. AG works with our squad, and maybe we unlock him through chemistry and team system. I could see a little javale effect if you will, but obviously on a different scale

Anonymous

My only question with Gordon is how does this impact the fit with the Draymond and Paschall dynamic? There's already going to be issues with Draymond and Paschall together, but now we would have 3 PFs would are limited shooting.

*Just to argue the other side of the personality thing for Oubre—I didn’t follow PHO much, but it always seemed like he showed up, played with pride and balls on a pretty worthless team. Curious if you have a different take, though, since you live in the area. *A little off-topic: I see why Gordon and Oubre are in the conversation, for sure ... but I wonder if there’s someone out there who’s smarter, craftier. The Warriors think the game really well, would be nice to see a youngblood carry that on. *This one was prime Alc—thanks, much needed this week!

athleticalchemy

No your right! If he vibes with Dray they could really feed off each other. Overall, He can be real extra tho.. over celebrating and kinda just caring too much about his swag rather than the game at times. I heard the Warriors and other teams have started kind of a wonderlic type test on the prospects. I don’t think there is a universal one yet, but it’s coming.

athleticalchemy

EP gets his iso touches with the second unit.. but fuck it’s a open comp with Kerr.. it he is playing someone off the floor than so be it.

athleticalchemy

I think it’s more the stakes and effort. When it matters I think it’s got a lot of potential to be cool.

athleticalchemy

💀 I lost it when I first heard the old suns announcer call him that.. I remember the Beal Draymond spat, was it during that?

Wonder if Orlando would take Oubre for Gordon. That way GS could keep the 10th pick

Anonymous

Watching the Oubre clips had me reminiscing of early Sprewell a bit. Not the personality so much but the fearless slashing to the hoop. You see it? Good stuff as always. Appreciate it!

Anonymous

I would pick Gordon because of his size and that type of size matters. Although... if you can retain a high pick and get Oubre, I would go for the latter... but ultimately I recommend sticking with the draft pick to get Wiseman if you guys go number one.

Anonymous

Everything except one major component makes me lean towards AG. Trading for the 10th pick vs the 15th is a huge difference I think. At pick 10, it's pretty much certain we would be able to get one of Halliburton, Vassell, or Okoro. At pick 15 I dont think any of them will be on the board. I also dont want Paschall to be neglected too much which I think might happen if we get Gordon. Paschall, Gordon, and Draymond are all suspect from deep which might supress Paschall's role.

Branden Edwards

I'd rather have Oubre. But I'm biased, I've always loved Oubres game.

Anonymous

I like both. AG a bit more, I guess. But I kinda think we need Oubre more just for the fit. The only problem I have for Oubre is that the dude seems a bit unhinged at times.

Windfury

AG for the following reasons: better defensive utility, his spot up three point shooting is in the 35-38% range which is much better than his overall percentage and those are going to the be kind of looks he will get with the Dubs, he is under contract for 2 years to Oubre's one year remaining, and he is more likely to stick around with the team after that. Oubre does not make as much sense with Wiggins on the roster. I think AG is at his lowest point in trade value and he would thrive in the Dubs system. My worst fear with Oubre is that he ends up being the second coming of Swaggy P.

Windfury

Would Orlando go for Ricky Rubio given their lack of a play-maker? Use the TPE and a 1st round pick swap to get Rubio and then trade him for Aaron Gordon. I've read that Phoenix might trade Rubio for a 2nd round pick. Just a thought

athleticalchemy

I think they would shy away form another none shooter next to Fultz. Oubre plays way harder than Swaggy but I hear you, if ihe doesnt mesh it could go south quick.

Anonymous

Gordon: size, assists, better rebounder, 2 years on contract instead of 1.

Anonymous

I am more inclined to pick Gordon, especially given that he is a Bay Area kid. My question would be who would be better equipped to handle defensive assignments (given the loss of Iguodala)? Who would better guard LeBron, AD, PG, Leonard or KD?

AK

nice breakdown yet again Alch. Gotta say... it'll be hard rooting for the Tsunami papi though. smh
