Hey Alc, started watching some ufc because of your podcasts and lockdown boredom. Sometimes i see some fights where the fighter would do a spin move kick or punch where it seem that their back would be exposed, but the opponent would never seem to punish. Is it because there are rules against hitting the back, or is it because its faster that it seems? one example would be the free fight of Volkanovski vs Holloway at 8:38 on youtube

No you can take the back as in grapple or choke them. You can’t strike the back of the head. But it’s tough to avoid it and then get back in range to counter

I hope you do an overview of this event Alec! I was excited for this event and was fairly let down. I was hyped to Jorge but I didn't know much about Usman beside the fact that knocked out Cody. So I was expected much more but yeah.......Usman won but it was a drag to watch that fighting style. Very very unentertaining and I see why no one wants to see his fights. I stayed up late and had to open at my job for that? Yeah I was disappointed. I know I'm not very well versed in MMA but just from the eye test it looked like Holloway had complete control of the fight untill the last round. I was shocked at that decision. I never saw a point where Val was definitvely beating Holloway beside the 4.
