Been waiting for this my brother. I'm stunned!

Anonymous

Could be a blessing in disguise for both us and Wiggins

Anonymous

I don't want to see Steph Curry come back at this point. We can't afford for him to have any more injuries or disrupt the tank!

Anonymous

I'm excited. DLo was a great offensive player but never matched with us defensively, I didn't think we could win a ring against the Bucks or the Lakers with 3 undersized guys (4 if you include Draymond sometimes). It's a worthy risk. Also don't forget how much better guys like McGee, Cousins (when healthy), Chriss, and WCS has looked with the GSW environment. Barnes hasn't looked the same since he left us. We made Cook, Clark, Jerebko, and McKinnie look better than they were.

Anonymous

Well you talked me down off there ledge a little.. I love D-lo, I just feel we got fleeced.

Major Powers

I just read somewhere that Bob Myers called up the Wolves right after the Brooklyn game to make the trade.

Matt Hanna

Great take alc and happy to see we are doing something here. Dlo was great but we always knew he was going to get moved one way or another. Now do you think Wiggins is gonna be a longer term fit for the Dubs or is he just gonna get showcased and then packaged up to get a big fish?

Anonymous

Exactly. I believe the Warriors can make Wiggins what he was suppose to be or at the very least Harrison Barnes 2.0 with a much better shot. Sad about Spellman but excited!

Anonymous

I mean I wouldn't say it's a worthy Risk. But no need to carry D.Lo into next season because Giannis ain't on the way until 2021 summer maybe. The fit would never work. We need a traditional starting 5 moving forward to compete in the west. This is a move in the right direction tho not ideal.

Thomas Ogas

Thank you for doing this, Alch. I've been in a fog all morning trying to absorb the impact of Wiggins, and digest the big picture outlook for the team.

Anonymous

i was into this moment i heard it (aside from losing spellman). D Lo is dope but his playstyle is gonna be so different with steph and klay and his defense really was lacking. i look forward to seeing Wiggins potentially thrive here! their stats are nearly identical. just Dlo with more assists and Wiggins with more rebounds. all in all like you said Alch it is just gonna be refreshing to see what comes next. I am gonna lean into it and think we are gonna see a revitalization of Wiggins im also just tired of seeing Towns so god damn sad and angry all the time haha so maybe he can at least enjoy some time with his homie!

Anonymous

I like it, the Warriors have created maximum flexibility and that's what you need if you are going to retool your roster with players that FIT....FIT. I say that because in our tank season, the Warriors played the exact same way with the exact same system they used for the last 5 years. If you win by system then you need talent and talent that fits within your system and the Warrios are going to get that going forward.

Anonymous

Is it possible we’re just gathering assets to try get giannis in the off-season?

Anonymous

We are set up to super tank to the end of the season.

Anonymous

If they repeat the Evans experiment with Poole, maybe they will find a role for Poole because he can pass and he has the vision too.

Anonymous

Btw turns out it was 2021 second round pick, not 2022. I think this is potentially better

Anonymous

jesus christ i forgot how ridiculous his highschool mix tape was. All i want now is a between the legs dunk in game and ill be satisfied.

Anonymous

bro if he comes in and he suck wtf are we gonna do cause god knows we can't trade him

athleticalchemy

everything is a risk... If they held on to dlo through next year there was a good chance his value would only go down with Steph and Klay back.

athleticalchemy

Nah..they are both young players being payed off potential. Dlo needs more to go right for him to be maximized.

athleticalchemy

I think they give him a much more legit chance to make it work. Mainly because of fit and again physical tools and potential.

athleticalchemy

Well said Steven..look at GR3 having a career year in this system Wig should look pretty damn good when the gravity returns

I quite like these trades they've been putting up. It's really going pretty much the way you expected and have voiced over the course of this season. So alch gets it right yet again! But yeah, I loved watching DLo's game. His pace is really interesting and he could be a legit star on his own team. I wouldn't have minded if he stayed, but Wiggin's is just as interesting, plus some picks for trade purposes or draft purposes. We are now currently loaded with picks that we can use to our leisure. Robinson and Burks for picks. DLo trade for picks. This is not a bad position to be in, and really should strike fear in other organizations. There's a lot of power here. I was on instagram earlier looking at comments and there's a lot of people totally flaming myers and others for the trades.. saying how horrible they are and that it was THE WORST DECISION EVER... and other really lame comments like that. I really find those comments amusing to read. These folks who have made all these decisions over the years have really only shown to be pretty masterful. Their track record has been more than admirable, yet these commentors are so quick to pass judgement that the trade was a fail. I will miss Spellman the most though out of these trades. I thought he had a lot of upside and was fun to see his growth. But when Chriss came back, you are correct to say that Spellman's minutes basically got eaten up and he became more redundant.

Nathan Glanzer

Chriss is exactly the type of big you want with Steph and Klay. I'm excited that he's going to get as much time as possible. The kid is shaping up glad we were able to bring him back.

Make it make sense please

Ravi Dissanayake

When I first heard of the trade, I just grinned and remember how we were talking about this trade all season Alc. I’m just glad it wasn’t Covington 😂

Anonymous

Yeah I was always wondering why former trade talks centered around Covington instead of Wiggins. I thought Minnesota wanted a big three. They do just not wit Wiggins. I want to see Wiggings unleashed tho.

Anonymous

I’m alright with the trade... Bummed most off GR3 and Spellman the most. Feels like they supposed to be Warriors, their playing style, heart and personality, it all felt like a fit. Glad to have kept Poole. Excited to see him next season. I agree with you, seems like he’s got potential but could definitely use a reset. Like when you have a long ass month at work, sometimes you need that long weekend to gather and settle yourself. As for DLo... Man. There is something really special about his pace and how he uses the pick and roll but dude totally just out there freestylin. I think you compared him to Dame a week ago and how Dame is hella calculated, reactionary obviously, but knew what he wanted and how to set up his offense. DLo getting a big switched on him was when I felt it was most apparent he didn’t really know what he wanted. I’m guessing he texting all through film sessions. Haha. Excited to see Wiggins with Dray orchestrating while Klay and Steph running a marathon off ball. Wonder if Klay gonna stay guarding the elite point guards with Wiggins on the wings, or if you push Wiggins onto the guard with his length and size and have Klay take the Andre roll guarding LeBron, Kawhi, etc. What you think Alch?

Anonymous

Also... You should just photoshop Wig’s face over DLo’s on the banner. Hahaha

Anonymous

I think Poole a better finisher at the rim too. Stroke gonna get consistent one day. I feel it

Branden Edwards

The new crop of Warriors fans have got to be pulling their hair out and stressing over all the roster changes and uncertainty

Anonymous

It might be a matter of remove Poole's mindset of creating a shot for himself (he has an essential problem of making all moves at 1, very fast speed) and replace it with a mindset of creating shots for other and if that can happen then the shots that do fall to him will be in the context of the game mostly open shot and that might make all the difference.

regarding the comments, the informed, reasoned dialogue from this segment of fans is one of the favorite (hidden) benefits of being part of this alchemy community. i subscribe to the athletic too. and while the articles/breaking news is great, the vitriol/ignorance/knee jerkedness from many of the commentators is only slightly better than what you find out on the net.

athleticalchemy

Here is the thing with Wig.. when your team is bad at defense you don't really get called out internally for being a bad defender. If we are fully healthy and locked in defensively around Wiggins I think he follow their lead. But Id guess they challenge Wig to start in the klay roll on defense most nights, then let klay finish the job depending on how he does.

athleticalchemy

Listening to Zach Lowe yesterday..he said Dlo is the player with the biggest discrepancy between what the fans think about him and the league thinks about him. I have the advantage of watching the game over every morning, the dude defense was next level bad. I tried to stay positive, yall didnt want to hear me just point it out night in and night out but I knew they knew how bad he was on that end.

Anonymous

Been thinking about it more. I already understood the move but then also kinda realized that in this coming draft / free agency there’s a real lack in the small forward position. This was definitely up there in terms of value that we’re getting back. Tough to see spellman and gr3 go but looking at where we are now compared to the end of last season you have to be encouraged. So many picks now too. All for practically nothing

Anonymous

If the bucks don't win this year and feel like they are losing Giannis in free agency, we can offer wiggins + green + first round picks for him. If Green continues to play like this and the stats keep going down... Am I going too far?

athleticalchemy

We can... but I think they will be looking for a package centered around a Tatum or Ingram type guy. A guy with the potential to be elite. But! It would also probably turn into a situation where Giannis is like here is my list of teams. So that obviously would eliminate some teams with more to offer than us.

I guess this means we’ve given up on acquiring Ben Simmons — any thoughts on why we wouldn’t wait to test the waters on this post playoff results?
