Alc, im with you on Boston. I dont think they can get out of the east. They are undersized and no superstar to carry them in crucial games. Kemba is elite but man he is small out there and is unfortunately not accustom to winning in the NBA till now so we will see how he does in the playoffs.

Curious to see Hayward's value this off season. Maybe some how turn him into one of the bigs on Portland's roster.

It's so hard to believe Marcus smart was a 6th pick, it kind of shows how bad his draft class was.

athleticalchemy

I’d say he is right around 6th pick value. Not what you want or expect.. but what you generally get. http://www.basketballinsiders.com/history-of-the-nba-draft-by-pick/history-of-the-nba-draft-pick-number-6/

As a celtics fan, I get so hype to play the warriors. Love seeing you breakdown my team

🤜🏽 Let me ask you this.... why Tatum over Brown for the all star bid? Near identical numbers, Brown seems to be the better defender.

Yeah I'm not talking so much about value, but height and offensive skill set. It's crazy to think someone as short and offensively limited as him (at the time) could get picked at number 6.

Spot on about Stevens not being a motivator

Now that you mention Tatum and Brown, what about Beal? He averages 29/5/6 to Trae's 29/5/9, with a better record and a worse team. It's mind blowing that Trae gets to start but Beal isn't all star material.

I agree with what you said, but I also do think that Tatum is asked to do a lot more in the offense than Brown. Brown gets a whole lot more catch and shoot corner 3 opportunities than Tatum. Tatum is out there more running pick and rolls, and having to make more basketball decisions.

But brown is getting there. Definitely a lot better making decisions than last season

I think you’re right about Hayward being the x -factor. The only likely scenario Boston finds its way out of the East is if he is averaging 24+ points a night in the post-season while still operating primarily as a facilitator, but capitalizing on his opportunities in the flow the offense. If they can be blessed with a sweepable team in the first round and can gain momentum without draining any juice, be interesting to see how these young guys respond to the moment.

athleticalchemy

Great point.. much easier to catch with guys closing out at you than creating off the bounce and PnR.

Tre is a fan vote, Beal is being penalized for being in a losing team by the coaches.. same with Booker.

Lol 23+ Might be adequate as well. Just I could see him scoring say 19-21 a game, having a good series, and still not being as impactful as he would need to be to have Boston getting through the top seeds in the East. I think he needs to be a feared option on the offensive end which makes teams second guess double teaming Kemba. That said, one of the two Brown/Tatum need to make that next step in their development through the playoffs if they are to be a real contender to the title. And if Hayward can be a reliable option while continuing to be an impactful facilitator, I could see this aiding their (Tatum/Brown) post-season production and growth.

Think Boston is eventually gonna have to cash in some of that permiter talent for a big, maybe it's Hayward on the last year of his deal. Also wondering with more than half the season done, which guys do you see as keepers so far

Going to the Nets game on Wednesday. Hopefully DLo and Kyrie ball out.

I really want to keep Lee, too, honestly, but if he had to go...well, I'd rather have your first 3 than him. I think Lee's got a higher ceiling than GRIII but the latter is a win-now piece. Also, I think Bowman could be valuable with another year of seasoning, just like Poole. I'm actually fairly stoked on what our young talent *could be* so I just hope they work their asses off and become the best version of their basketball-playing selves.
