What is the reason we haven’t started Chriss yet? It makes no sense to me frankly

Anonymous

At this point, anytime Chriss plays Close to or even less minutes than WCS, it should be fine for Steve Kerr. It makes no sense for someone to make Warriors Fans to contemplate having Andris Biedrins play over dude. Shit is embarrassing at this point. That said, Bob needs to do some FO Magic to keep both Chriss and Bowman

To me either... maybe try to showcase something from willie? I mean chris is a keeper and we definitively need to get rid of WCS

Man I told ya Chriss is a baller!!! His ceiling is high! Loony though... looking horrible out there.

If Loon's the odd man out, that would be truly disappointing. Especially after his work ethic and growth led him to being referred to as a foundational piece. But then again, the other young bigs have shown a lot of upside and they already picked Spellmen next year. That being said, ownership hasn't seemed interested in saving the tax money, maybe losing changes that. But I want to see Looney get healthy in a Dubs jersey. I'm loving the takes, Alch. keep it coming!

I feel ya! Loon when right is a nice player, he has a lot of sentimental value too. Watching him battle thru the hips. But Chriss and Spellman are making it a discussion.

Maybe I'm the only one but what is not checked off on the list of what Chriss can do? Low post footwork check, good solid pick check, shot block check, rebound both ends check, roll and finish with power dunk or touch layup check, make an occasional 3 check, back to the basket or face up check, play with energy check, and pass a bit too....Looney should be on an extended trip to the g league to get in shape and play minutes.

It was pretty well reported that when Zaza first came he was promised to start so it seems likely that WCS also might have had that promise. WCS will not be with the Warriors next year.

Looney needs to get healthy first. Really wack how the preseason sucked so hard with injuries to Looney and WCS right off the bat (for starters). Reminds me of some of the Warrior's preseasons in the 80s where they just got off to horrid starts in preseason that lingered over into the season. I have no doubt that Looney could turn things around once his neuropathy issues get resolved-but that could take some time. Chriss, Spellman, Sky Bowman and believe it our not Jacob Evans are my top 4 picks of the litter in terms of the new guys that don't have huge contracts (DLo). The contract Looney just signed-the bad timing of this injury-he's going to have to be healthy anyway to be available for a trade. I like what Alec Burks has done-no doubt it's nice to have a vet who can score and 6th man things. For me Evans on defense is almost a necessity-I'd rather see him develop that floater and his 3-point shoot than shoot long 2s. As long as he's showing some defense. It's amazing how the team forgets to cover the corner 3.

I still believe in Looney because he has shown that in highly competitive playoff series he can be a major factor when healthy, but of course right now the centre position is tight in GS. I think if anyone has to go it has to be WCS first, and it would be a discussion between the 3 young bigs.

I mean based on Lonney’s buzz from last year And his favorable contract, what do you we’d get in exchange? An expiring deal and a second rounder? If Smiley is really anything, with the already 3 strong young bigs, there’s really no place for him, especially since we need an actual 5 behind Chriss

Chris is 6'-9" his only negative. He's too small to be a starting center. He's an old school power forward despite the occasional glimpses that he can stretch the floor. That part of his game has not proven reliable yet.

Anonymous

we all have to remember that Looney played well with 4 hall of famers and very limited responsibilities. he did well with that but we know no other version of looney. Chriss may have looked just as good if not better in the dynasty GS version.

It's gonna break my heart when it happens bc he gave up his body getting trucked by OLB Kawhi. Dude took a discount to stay one more year. I have faith he can turn it around, but the business can be cruel when it wants to. Sidenote: we might have to wait until the playoffs before either the 76ers, Magic or Bucks become desperate and pull the trigger to get Dlo.

I agree he is much more suited to minutes at the 4 although the Warriors have played Draymond, Looney, West similar sized players as the backup to the 5 position with quite a bit of success. If I was to critique my own list here his rotations and 1 on 1 defense at the 3 point line still need proving. Smart coaching would put video of David West in the Warriors offense in front of him and tell him there's your model to copy.

We also know that Looney has developed his game to become a solid defender, something this team needs. Last season he also flashed a decent shot and better finish around the rim than WCS! And next season, the all stars will come back perhaps returning that role you described for Looney. I love Chriss' upside, but he doesn't have the chemistry with Steph and Klay and still gets lost on defense. Perhaps the best argument against trading Loon might be that the Warriors would have to dump another contract or two to get under the tax. I think it makes more sense to eat the tax this year and look to get under next year, if it's that important. Might be better to work a trade for DLo. And it hurts to say that because I like DLo, he gives at least one "how the f*ck did he do that!" per game, but admittedly looks like a bad fit for the scheme.
