I was at this game!! Club box level. That shit is amazingly nice to be in. comfortable chairs. Free alcohol and empty bathrooms..... Anyway. Yet again the absence of Kittle has its major effects on the 49ers offense. And Jimmy G's lack of trust to anyone not named Sanders in terms of the WR position. Im glad he was able to get over it and find Bourne for a couple of clutch plays, but I still dont blame him. I hate Bourne and Pettis. Ive never seen a more consistently inconsistent pair of WRs. I usually dont care about players celebrating except when they overdo it. But when I see Bourne celebrating any catch he makes like hes some All-Pro talent, it boils my blood. This dude's inability to catch the ball in big moments has led to a total reliance on Kittle and Sanders from Jimmy, limiting his growth as a QB. And here he is celebrating cuz he FINALLY caught something. Okay the Bourne hate rant is over. All that aside, this was a huge win for the niners. Regain their home field after losing in heartbreaking fashion to Seattle. And a solid comeback win despite YET AGAIN losing Sanders to injury and the entire roster dropping like flies all over the place again as well. Idk how you guys felt at home, but in the stadium, even at 16-0, it never FELT like the Niners were out of it. The offense looked bad, but because the defense was playing just good enough to not be down more than 20, despite the bad/obvious penalties they were committing. There were some very suspect calls we got as well. Multiple PIs on the Cards defense seemed like really terrible calls that we lucked out on, particularly that one Juszcyck somehow drew. I'll take the W obviously but I dont like getting bailed out by the refs. That wont happen in the playoffs. Jimmy had a good game stats wise, but Im still not sold on him. Most of his yards came from YAC, and his decision making in the redzone was AWFUL. Those two picks were horrendous and totally avoidable. Yes he had the clutch TD, and that whole drive looked amazing. But the fact they even needed him to pull off a drive like that in the first place is more concerning. I need to see a GOOD game from Jimmy. Good decision making, better pocket presence, and less mistakes. I honestly am okay with him taking sacks (if hes smart about it). But the rushed errant throws will continue to be the downfall of this offense. The defense will only be able to hold for so long. Final thought on this game.......I dont know whats going on with the offensive line. I know theyve had to shuffle it around with Staley and McGlinchey coming back...then leaving again. But the run game is just DEAD the last 3 weeks. And its not the like Cards defense is in top 5 rush defense. This is quite concerning considering the defenses only get tougher from here. Without the reliable run game, and the constant injuries/ineptitude from the WRs, the next few weeks look like theyre gonna be extremely rough.

I just realized my comments on all your videos are often selfish. Please dont get me wrong, thank you so much for all your breakdowns and commentary! Youre still the best at it man!! Love your channel.

I appreciate your contributions.. Sometimes it feels like you comment before the video. And then we have a lot of same takes. Bourne doesn’t bug me too much, only because his effort is alway 💯. I’m glad Jimmy is protecting himself better.... but he could help the line out if he would look to scramble out a bounds and pick a few yards, rather than just stand in there until the bloody end.

This was a nice switch up.

I love that you're doing 9ers summary breakdowns. I don't have the patience to watch these games live, but this is great. Thanks Alch, gonna up my Patreon contribution a buck a month

Love the Niner content!!

Alch, your enthusiasm at the end of these games is amazing. I was watching this live and I bout lost it when we scored at the end to go ahead. Such a fun match up and the Cardinals are gonna be solid in the very near future.

athleticalchemy

Its easy with the type of games they have been having! Everybody thought the Cardinals didn't know what they were doing with Kyler and Kingsbury, but your right they look like the future rival of the division

Matt Hanna

It blows my mind that scouts or GM's dont like very successful QB's in college at big name schools. The fact that deshaun watson or many other QB's got drafted when they did compared to a Mitch Turbinsky or a Sam Darnold just shows how mismanaged their organization is.

athleticalchemy

I think there are still a lot of "old school" football minds in these front offices. Its refreshing tho to see what is happening through out the league. Now I think we are going to see LBs become super important again, to contain these hybrid QBs.

Matt Hanna

Couldnt agree more. I would love to see a simulation if Lamar Jackson was a true RB and what he could do on the field.

Abhi Kelkar

Maybe as the season progresses he’ll become more comfortable scrambling out of the pocket for a run, he may just be trying to go easy on the knee for now or Shanny doesn’t want film on Jimmy keeping the ball to run

Having hardly ever seen American Football, it's extremely hard to make sense of it. 3rd and 11? 1st and 10? And apparently the goal is to catch the ball near those poles? But then, what are these poles good for anyway? Guess I have some reading to do, lol!

American Football is a very complex sport in both rules and execution. What makes it worth investing the time is that the sport is an amazing battle of raw strength/power and violence, vs skill and speed and execution ... with a very complex layer of strategy and coordination over the top. It's a sport that showcases amazing talent in the highlights, but winning relies more on coaching, planning, and adjustments.

Hate football. But a 15 minute Alchemy version? Okay!
