Was waiting for this. Both the Dubs' effort and Alch's highlights.

Anonymous

Be fair, Boogie has good hands on defense that resulted in 5 "blocked" shots with little jumping involved, he had a charge call, he doesn't give up plays like slim, he's full effort, he boxes and rebounds in traffic....and yes let's be fair, he can't guard a small on the perimeter, he's slow in rotations, but come playoffs when everyone else has a real big on the floor Dubs are going to be glad to have him and AB. Boogie makes the Bigs work and he can frustrate other bigs with his body.

How good would we be if kd gave klays effort on d, some games he gets real into it

Anonymous

I was getting so frustrated with steph doing that over the head hook pass. He turned the ball over so many times using that in this game.

Anonymous

I like Jokic, but he kills me with his floppy ass court swag... Literally flops with every step and breath he takes smh I wish he knew how goofy he looks especially when there's no call lol

Anonymous

Boogie is going to be good against the centers who aren't their team's best scorers and who don't stretch the floor: Jokic, Nurkic, Adams, Gobert, Aldridge, Zubac (in the West). I can't see him playing much against the Rockets though. He'll get cooked by Harden/CP3/Capela. Looney had better get the majority of the minutes in a Rockets series. In the East, I think Boogie at his best can matchup with Gasol, Myles Turner/Sabonis, Embiid. Not a great matchup against Brook Lopez/Giannis, Ibaka, Horford. Based on this I'd say he can help us get to the Western Conference finals, but much less so against likely WCF opponents and in the NBA finals, assuming we'll see either Thunder, Rockets and then Bucks or Raptors. I hope Kerr is actually willing to make adjustments.

Elaborate your point on why the joker couldn't be the best player on a championship winning team.

Anonymous

As soon as I saw this game I was thinking to myself I can't wait till your break down because I know you were so upset at them for the last game

Russ

Believe Cousins will have more effort now, even if he has been going as hard as he can my guess Bogut gets him to go harder. Can you imagine the scratch Boogie is going to lose if he is exposed this badly on D for the rest of the year? And agree AA he's got to take those 3's, or move up 2 steps and jack up a 16 footer. And great catch on KD Defense, he can do that any time he wants but he has always had so much responsibility on O that he can't afford to use up that energy on D like Draymond can. Dray stands at the top and sets a couple screens, saves his energy for D which is fine we need him.

KD aid consistently one of our best defenders, if he wants to coast on defense and we stay the first seed and he comes out energized for the playoffs then I want him to coast. A shooting guard giving effort on defense is different than a seven footer

I always try to be! I’m just concerned Steve leaves him out there too long in a bad matchup. You know how it is, a 5 min stint can turn a playoff game like that! He will have has time and moments. But ultimately we are not best with him on the floor. Especially the way IG has played.

athleticalchemy

I trust Kerr will bench him if he has too. But at what point is the question. After it costs us a big game?

athleticalchemy

It was great to see the effort, but I’d like to see it against a team trying to match it.Denver never brought it.. the 2nd q comeback was more our poor play than them playing well. But aye I’ll take it!

athleticalchemy

He doesn’t have the alpha or kill gene. He just hoops. Combine that with his physical limitations. I think he is best suited as a #2. When you look at his peers. Luka.. Mitchell, Embiid you see them say ok.. I’m take over or in try and take over. I don’t see that with him.

Boogie pretty close to a 5x5 😮

athleticalchemy

well said..the energy has to be portioned out properly. He so big and skilled he doesnt have to spend that much energy offensively. Thats what makes Klay so crazy.

Anonymous

I know it still wasn't perfect but I was very happy with the defense. There will always be mistakes made here and there but just look at the activity level and aggression. All 5 guys were defending hard. Guys were helping and also helping the helper. That means the energy level was there. When the energy level is like that, you can get away with mistakes bc you speed up the opposing offense and they play out of sync. Cousins could've easily had a 5 x 5 in this game and that just shows how active he was. There have only been 22 5 x 5's in NBA history. As far as his 3's, his drop in 3pt % is very expected. When the offense is centered around 3's by Curry/Klay/KD, it's not easy to shoot when playing next to those guys. Bc it's almost like you feel guilty for taking the 3 and not being able to get them the shot. You are hesitating and over-thinking on every shot. This is just instinct. If we want Cousins to make these 3's, we gotta get him to the point he's comfortable mentally taking them.

Why do shooters always seem to be good right after injuries/ rest? Even Boogie looked great his first game back with his 3s. Klay and Steph both tear things up. As great of a shooter Steph is, he's so much worse off the ball. Beginning of the season he was fantastic at controlling his movement but now it's back to a point where there's just too much jump. Some of his best games (51 pt Wizards 2018, 46 pt OKC 2016) make it very clear how much better he is off the dribble and in transition. But it's also clear Steph is dealing with a mental problem the last month, like Klay had to start the season. Klay's jumps were flawless this game.

Up next is the Rockets on Wednesday! While last nights game was a must win in our eyes, the game against HOU is a MUST WIN. For one both teams will face off relatively with the healthy squad for the first time in 3 match ups and HOU is red hot so we need to cool them down and avoid the season sweep.

athleticalchemy

Id guess they shoot form shots while injured..then when the legs come back into it they are on.

Strong Foru

Great game analysis as always Alch. I saw a clip with Andre Iguodala, and he stated that typically, the Warriors give a player until their 2nd season to fully integrate into the Warriors system. He said, with that in mind, Cousins is only in his 2nd month, so their expectations aren't that high.

Anonymous

I love love love Curry, but over and over and over his sloppy turnovers let the opposing team back into the game. We've said it before and we'll say it again, Curry one of those guys that says the right thing but does the wrong thing. He don't learn. It was 20-3 and Curry got sloppy. Before you know it, the game was tied.

Anonymous

Demarcus gotta shoot the three better. 1 for 4 last night = 25%. That won't work because the defense is giving him the Draymond treatment, meaning just let be alone on an island, he can't hurt us.

Anonymous

I felt last night was the "Bogut night" The players have to send to a message to the fans and management that says "we don't need Bogut, we can win without him." Warriors won last night, but I'm thinking that Bogut will help the offense a little but, but will help the defense a lot.

Anonymous

Klay went off, but I'm SO GLAD Looney is back. I love it when he rolls to the rim and our guys find him for the jam. Looney is in a good place, not overthinking is role. He keeps it simple, and really helps the Warriors.

Neal X

Not going to lie, didn't realize Iggy got a haircut and was like "what's David West doing out there???"

Neal X

Absolutely. I was afraid he wouldn't be playing for a while yet. Such a vitally important defender.

Anonymous

It bugs me to see him standing alone out there - I know he can clog up the middle but it seems like when he's out on the perimeter they need to be running action with him a screener and rolling to the hoop. Having him playing the Dray passing point role is fine if Dray is finding a way to be an offensive threat , either getting open corner threes or working around the hoop in motion, but I don't see that really happening. I do think some of this is still getting acclimated, his role with the 2nd unit is very different than with the first unit and he still looks like a loose piece in the machinery out there kind of rattling around. I still think they'll get there in the end, but maybe only if guys like steph and KD stay motivated and playing at close to 100%; if they're kind of going through the motions that makes it tougher on Boogie.

athleticalchemy

I like that... it is mental for him. I give him credit tho his belief in himself is very strong. He just needs one big night from behind the arc.

athleticalchemy

Interesting.. you think they feel that strong about it? I could see if it was Melo or a bigger name. Or you mean more so for Boogie?

Strong Foru

David West is a completely different height, body type and head shape.
