Hmm, so you agree with Chuck that you should hold Steph out on Game 2 and bring him back on Game 3 on Friday! I think Game 2 is perfect. Play that night, and get 2 days off with whatever soreness that comes with it. Game 4 is on Sunday so 1 day to recover from soreness if wait till Game 3.

I don't think you can leave him out game 2, what if Pelicans end up winning game 2? No, if he's ready, I think the move is to bring him off the bench limited minutes at Oracle.

Nathan Glanzer

Nah he's gotta start. Needs to get him in sync with the other starters. This isn't about them needing him to win. It's about getting him back in game shape and games against the Pelicans are perfect to get used to playing with Steph again. It's been quite a while.

Last time KD and Steph played together was March 8th, when Steph injured his ankle against the Spurs.

This soreness talk is exaggerated. You know how crazy these guys train! The sports science sups and recovery they have access to! The whole week he would be getting rid of soreness by getting in shape and stronger. We don’t know where he is truly at. If he is healthy enough to where the xtra time doesn’t help then by all means... roll him out Tuesday.

I had to listen to Charles and Shaq post game try to deny Looney's impact on the game... It's crazy that two hall of famers either don't actually watch the games or really don't know that much about the sport... Their terrible analysis of the game always makes me appreciate your in depth breakdowns and basketball knowledge even more

Excited how we came out, but pels were a little rusty. Will see how they respond in game 2 to see how far this series will go.

Like I posted in your preview vid, the Pels have not seen a defense like this before. We just got too many favorable matchups out there, and that's not even counting when we have Curry. It's not possible to come up with a more perfect series to display Draymond's greatness than this. Draymond loves this shit. He loves playing the 5 and the Pels are one of the few teams we can play him there all game long. But GSW had another trick up their sleeve. Bc we have guys like Looney and KD we can put on AD, we moved Draymond over to guard Rondo for a lot in this game. This not only allows us to put our best defender on their quarterback, but, since Rondo is not a shooter, this allows Draymond to provide help defense everywhere else, especially on AD. This was part of the reason why our best lineups tonight were with Looney at the 5 defending AD. If Draymond is allowed to have this much freedom and impact on defense, he becomes one of the most dominant players in the NBA. His effect on defense becomes similar to the effect Curry has on offense when he is on fire. This is why he is DPOY. As far as adjustments, it doesn't matter what adjustments they make if they continue to want to play at this pace. The Pels want to play fast but this is also the pace and style GSW loves the most, especially Curry. I think this is why our players seemed to have much more life and joy during the game tonight. In the past 4 years, no team has beaten us playing at this pace. It's the ability to play this fast and efficiently, with the lethal shooters and scorers we have, combined with the elite defense, that makes this team one of the all time greats.

AD got quiet under the Bright Lights huh? I 100% agree he's gotta guard the reaper, if not they might as well just let us rest till its time to go to Texas. I heavily doubt we see Curry till we go on the road after that win, because I think two things I was thinking when I watched the game and you talked about, playing the well coached Spurs team got the Dubs polished up hard mentally. And straight the Trailblazers defense is weak. Dame$ only likes the clock when he's on the offensive end. Shout out the Dray for driving to the hoop, looked like a 2nd all league forward.

Kenny Smith was crediting Looney's play and CB wasn't having any of it.....give CB credit there's no bottom to his blindered confirmation bias. Goes without saying Looney, West, S-dot were great off the bench and it's clear that Kerr's plan for the Pels is to small ball them to death.

You're exactly right Richard, Draymond was fabulous, Warriors played to their small ball buzz saw defense roots and I doubt you'll see them go away from it. Draymond's intensity and ability to fiercely defend bigger players reminds me somewhat of what Dave Cowens taught us in the golden age of big centers and low post play, good defense doesn't respect or concede to height. Dray' s efforts are really enhanced by Looney's steady, solid relief work at the 5, they make a difficult 1-2 punch

Neither understand defense, CB didn't play any and Shaq relied on his size not his intellect but then CB sees Golden State uniforms and goes into his 1980's reminiscing "in my day, Golden State never played defense" and can't see how things are now, in the real world. There are a lot of people today who think that they are entitled to believe what they want to believe regardless of any evidence in front of their face.

If Steph is gonna participate in contact drills or scrimmages, doesn't that already mean the Warriors are risking injury to Steph? So how are you protecting him by holding Steph out of games? Practice injuries happen even big ones. If you want to protect Steph the only I see is bring him back and manage his minutes, his fatigue level and show care in who he matches up against on offense and defense. Ease him back into play with managed minutes and situations until you are sure he's conditioned to fatigue, game speed and physical play. As a player who played for years 3-4 times per week I know if you went on vacation for a week or 2 and didn't play, it was the speed of play you noticed when you can back. Am I alone?

Not in question after the 6 minute mark???Wait a minute Alc didn't Nick Young come out of the game at the 8 minute mark? I think ur jumping the gun by 2 minutes!:-)

Russ

Sloppy D was starting only because he will be replaced by Steph and wild as this is to say he is the horrible closest thing to a Steph guy in the line up. He can still shoot the 3 and he needs to be helped on D. Now you know I think the 8 year old is the worst GM decision we have made in this era but he spreads the floor and if he starts then goes back to texting on the sidelines where he belongs next game, we will have kept the second unit intact for a couple of pre Steph games. Lets just hope he doesn't kill us now that they know he might start again.

Hey Alchemy Do u think its realistic to see Za on the floro when Steph is back ?

Anonymous

i would not agree to be frank. he is more like catch and shoot guy then playmaker... i think cook is the only one close to the role of Chef

Anonymous

Zaza is not playable in this series because of how slow he is and how AD would just dominate him or if he gets switched to guards to spot up shooters. Not a game for Zaza

athleticalchemy

You right I jumped the gun on that they hung for like a quarter in a half. It just felt like the game was over super fast. I think excepting a dog fight it sped me up.
