Lonzo Officially a Bust || Lakers vs Suns ||

Lakers Suns meet for the Second time this week. Lonzo hoping a fresh cut would give him some confidence on the court. But it wasn't his overall performance that has led me to close the book on my opinion on Lonzo so quickly. It was something that happened when the whistle was blown, that lets me know who Lonzo is. Too early to call him a bust. His passing and ability to setup teammates means he will always have a place in the league.

Like this isnt the only time we've seen this kind of thing either. Multiple times, when a Lakers player makes a play that fires up his teammates on the bench, you could see Lonzo wrapped up in his own struggles rather than working to ingratiate himself with his teammates

I'll say the last thing first, there's almost always two sides to everything, that being said I also love the book blink and believe in the point Malcolm makes in that book that when you know some field of endeavour very well you can often judge something in a blink. Chauncey Billups .....Celtics, Raptors, Nuggets......considered a bust....until he wasn't, that's the second side. But AA I understand where you're coming from I've had blink moments.....in another field on endeavour.

Well said... I left out the key aspect of Blink in that you must know the field you are slicing very well. I believe I've hit my 10000 hrs in basketball. To stay in Gladwell's world Chauncey is a Outlier.

Reminds me of when curry got thrown around like a rag doll by roy hibbert. He ran straight in and went at the biggest dude. Some stuff you just cant teach. Lonzo isn't cut for this, and im sure he knows it.

Tho he never said it, I suspect that Gladwell's idea of thin slices barrows a bit from Abraham Maslow's concept of self actualization, in that, we are able to "blink" only within those activities in which we have experienced self actualization, time fades away as a factor when that happens. It's why the game "slows down" for a lucky few athletes as they play and perhaps for others as the see.

Well said Alchemy. To me, Lonzo always looked like a cliche movie plot: the father putting pressure on the son to carry on his legacy/brand, while the poor kid just wants to be a dancer in his heart of hearts

Alchemy, I usually defer to your better basketball judgment. But, on this, you are dead wrong. I am old enough to remember the great Dr. J walking way from a similar bench emptying brawl. The NBA is full of b*tch raised Niggahs who have this completely ass backwards idea of what a man is. America's single Black mothers teach their knee jerk violent nature to their bastard sons, which by the way is part of the reason OJ thought it was okay to whack two White people over his ex-wife's whorish ways. But Lonzo was raised by an alpha Black man and a White woman. What he did was smart, not the behavior of a pussy.

I agree with the single black mother epidemic. DeMarcus and Draymond both wear that syndrome everynight. This was breaking a unwritten rule in all team sports. He doesn't have to fight, pump his chest, or say a word. But he HAS to turn around and physically stand by his teammates period

Was overhyped coming out of college. Gotta look beyond the hype. Look at the evidence. This is a dude who was completely dominated by De'Aaron Fox, hardly an elite player, twice in the same year in college. The talent level was never there. Lonzo could be a nice player if it was 15 years ago. But the talent pool in the NBA today is ridiculous. Lonzo lacks the physical gifts, the skillset, and the shooting ability to be a great PG in today's NBA.

Alchemy, I think the name is calling is beneath you. You're better than that. What Lonzo's reaction to the fight did show is that he is far from being a leader. He's got a lot of challenges to overcome from bad parenting. Compare his upbringing to Steph's for example. The dude is going to take a long time to mature. Will running the gauntlet of criticism and scrutiny he's getting in his first season make him or break him? Time will tell.
