I will smooth out the recording process, my daughter was trying to balance the level bubble in the tripod while holding it. Im going to just start documenting my training as it turns to fall and I can train outside. I will add tips and tricks I have learned along the way. Any requests of skills or techniques to cover are appreciated.

Nice. I'll definitely be watching Draymond now, thanks to this. The game of horse made me jealous. My son, now 16, never liked basketball. Being from KY, horse was a staple of my childhood. I miss it.

Im constantly trying to balance fun and work with her basketball development as you will see moving forward. My 2 older girls would much rather be at the mall or on Snapchat then have anything to do with a ball. Amya my youngest, is like the son I never had. Watching all Warrior games, hooping and even plays ps4 with me haha.

Can you do video on how to master free throws

Digging the branching out AA. That shot looks smooth.

AA you're exactly right, Dray has Bob Lanier's shot, shot with a wrist flip from the palm of the hand but of course Lanier got away with those mechanics because he never shot from distance and he had the length and width to always make space before shooting. To the point of proper shot release point, no matter your success, draw a line from your forehead directly up and the ball should never proceed travel behind that line in your shot motion.....NEVER because it is less efficient and unnecessary. Now here's the way I explained that to youngers who rightly pointed out that Bird severely violated that precept, Larry did not shoot the ball, he threw it at the basket and you're never going to be as good as Bird. Finally, One of the first lessons Steph and maybe even Klay learned was to always think about creating space when no matter where you are on the floor, with or without the ball. As a player once you wear the "shooter" label especially from young, every defender believes that if they just crowd you they can stop the shot....which is of course not true. Dray's open looks are always directly the result of standing and waiting.....he literally does nothing to earn those stretch 3's except be the dub's Quinn Buckner or Dennis Johnson. It's simple, Dray cannot stand motionless waiting for the ball, his body posture and arms and legs motion prior to the ball' s arrival suck. You are exactly right he need to learn the timing of moving into the catch of the ball with bend, hands and bounce upward towards the goal. Rick Patinno had drills and rules that all 3 point shots were shot with the player moving towards the goal prior to the ball reaching his hands...the ideal was to catch and lift into your jump behind the line release in the air and then land inside the line shortening that 3 pts shot into 2 point distance. All that is a rework of Dray's thinking, timing, and release. Draymond never learned to hunt that 3 pointer and even though it will continued to be gifted to him he has to learn to treat that shot like he hunted it. Love this type of video!

Very knowledgeable Steven! love the theory that he dosent earn it, I also think its almost always his 3rd option of want. First he wants a homerun pass (flashy leads to dunk) 2nd put it on the floor and drive. 3rd being the shot. Now there are games where you can tell he knows how they are going to play him and he comes in with a mind set to shoot, and you can see it right away. He usually shoots much better in those games. He's got to get in the habit of show shot on the catch regardless the situation. I realize Im bias with regards to the high release because I have had great success with it through out my playing days. There are a lot of great shooter with a high or 2 motion shot. Dirk, Ray Allen, Reggie, Rashad Lewis..Kobe's is pretty high. I agree its not the ideal motion, Ive taught my daughter a lower quick release. That said your body type athleticism and playing style will dictate how you release the ball. While it is a slower release Iv found I need much less space to get my shot off.

Awesome vid, AA. Bringing in your experience and learning how you read players will make watching the Warriors so much more engaging. I'd love your take on Draymond's defense and how he sniffs out just where to be at the right time. How much of that is instinct vs scouting vs mechanics?

athleticalchemy

Glad you liked it! I will definitely do a piece on his defense.

^^ Agreed! I would hella like a video breaking down how you think Draymond does what he does!

More IRL videos bro. Would be dope seeing you playing pick up games.
