Warriors Summer League Game 1

Great video, I'm wondering about that play where you highlighted Looney's defensive shortcomings though. Wasn't the other guy, #30-something, supposed to rotate and sprint over to the guy at the 3-point line? It seemed to me like looney did his job of cutting off the roll man's rim run, and him having to rotate back to the perimeter is a worse option because then the shooter can pumpfake, run by him, and then you've only got a wing down low to stop the drive without forcing too many defensive rotations.

Your right, not the best example. Point is he really has a hard time if he has to rotate to the perimeter, blown assignment or not. Which is what everyone is looking for from their big now.

Hey alchemy, great content as always. Off topic, but I was curious about your opinion regarding competition in the west. If the rockets were to sign Melo, do you think they will snag the second seed and possibly give the warriors a tough time, perhaps in the wcf? I say this because the Spurs have not made too many moves this summer besides Rudy Gay. Let me know what you think!

At this point in Melo's career I think he would be willing soldier and play the role he is asked to play. But I don't think the CP3 Harden backcourt will work. I just don't think CP is going to give up the ball! Its ingrained in him! I wouldn't be surprised if they are looking to ship him out in February to recoup before he walks in the off season. Rudy Gay won't be right for most of this season, Achilles take a good 12 to 18 months. That's why I was surprised to hear we were interested. I'm the Spurs I would payed Simmons with that money.

Yeah his closeouts don't put much pressure on shooters, and his perimeter d isn't what you want from a starting 4/5. His interior rotations are pretty solid though; he rotates over to stop backdoor cuts, contests shots with both hands, goes straight up, etc. I think he can still be an impact player on both ends in short stints going forward. Assuming health.

Never seen summer league clips, very cool.

Thanks for highlighting the non-scoring defensive, switching, rotation and close out plays, that has more to do with who will eventually play for the warriors, except the PMac star in waiting. With Jones I admit my own prejudices, don't want big men that can't make free throws, with everyone and his brother shooting and making 3's, having a big on the floor and that has a question on the line is like filling you're house with stuff and driving away with the door unlocked.....somebody's gonna come take it from you, you can't protect a lead with 0 or 1 vs 3. And.....I don't always align with what the NBA but in regards to SK, let sleeping dogs man, dude best forgotten as one of the least disciplined players ever up there with Marvin B.

Simmons is a Mario Ellie.... not in play style.....but a "banana" player, he's that guy that very green and takes a long while to turn yellow but when he does it a sweet money for nothing fruit (or at least less money than those organic bananas).
