Howdy Folks,

This morning we got a YouTube Copyright Strike on the Season 6 Premiere of Dexter Reaction. This was out of the blue for us, since we have gone thru 3/4 of the show without issue. Trying to figure out what to do. Watching the video to see if we did anything differently than our other 35+ published Dexter videos and I don't see how this was tagged and others weren't. So I'm worried this was a warning shot telling us to remove the rest of them...

If we get another strike we can't post for two weeks and a third means bye-bye channel. Trying to figure out our next steps. Just giving you all a heads up in case you see our Dexter vanish into a hurricane...

Maybe it has something to do with the 4 week Dexter marathon Showtime announced, see Twitter (spoilers!) https://twitter.com/SHO_Dexter/status/1423388342276694025?s=20 Have you contacted other reactors who have Dexter content on their channel? Maybe it's a change in the YouTube algorithm, other reactors might have some advice. I'm sure you thought of this as well, but nonetheless. Hope things work out, I love Dexter reactions.

Hmmm.... you might be onto why this video was tagged. That was one of the only videos we shared a direct link to on our Twitter with the Dexter hashtag...

I don't have direct experience with YouTube strikes myself, but after a google search I found: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2814000?hl=en#zippy=%2Chow-to-get-info-about-your-strike There's a menu item on that page called "How to get info about your strike" which should be expanded when you follow the link above. It describes how to find details about the strike in YouTube Studio. Maybe there's information there that tells you what the strike is actually about, and who made the copyright claim.

Yeah. I've looked for any information on why this video in particular was claimed and there are no details. Just an email addres for the Copyright Agent for ViacomCBS :/

They would still be on patreon if they were removed from YouTube? Maybe just make the edited versions on patreon public when you plan on actually releasing them to YouTube? Only if it gets that desperate i guess

Yeah. I don't fault YouTube tho. They are just complying with the legal system. They host the video for free. I just wish they gave more details as to what the official take-down noticed included.

There's not many dexter reactors but of the few that there are, only 1 has completed it (Bernies Channel) and another one the first dexter video they did got copyright striked so they only put Dexter on their patreon, another one the guy did maybe the first 4 episodes and only uploads dexter to his patreon.

RP2 made it a couple of episodes, but finished it on patreon. Geekedoutnation didn't make it past episode 3 and is finishing on Patreon. I think Blindwave figured out how to get it all out, but their content is now on Patreon. Paradoxic had his whole channel on youtube struck down and had to start his channel over again. I still don't know how Bernies Channel got it all out there. There are 2 fairly new reactors that are having strike issues. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the new season coming out this fall and CBS is getting extra protective. The you tube edits have to be less than 8 minutes and have NO proprietary music in them.

I unlisted all our Dexter reactions last night after your intel. I appreciate you letting me know all that stuff. They will stay unlisted while we appeal the Copyright strike. IF we win that appeal they'll go back up. If not. Patreon only :/
