No way. Definitely my fav horror movie

Insidious definitely lacks the heart of The Conjuring (with Ed and Lorraine specifically) but the whole astral projection thing, especially in a horror movie, is very different and creative. Without spoiling anything, the second movie picks up literally right after this one and ties things up in a very neat way. I highly recommend watching at least that one. The third and fourth one are a bit different and doesn't revolve around the same family, but you still might see some familar characters. The fifth and latest movie goes back to this family and takes place about 10 years later. Fun facts: The names on the chalkboard in the classroom, along with James Wan, are other people that worked on the movie. Joe Hui and Lisa Cabello were crafties, Heather Michel and Kaylee Fisher were set dressers, Leslie Borchard was a hairstylist, Yesim 'Shimmy' Osman was the hair department head, Rick Osako was the unit production manager, Jeanette Volturno was the line producer, Jennifer Spence was the art director, Kate Mallor was a set dresser and Renetta G. Amador was the script supervisor. Patrick Wilson (Josh) and Ty Simpkins (Dalton) had previously portrayed father and son in Little Children and Ty also played the younger brother in the first Jurassic World movie as well as appearing in Iron Man 3, Avengers: Endgame and The Whale. Lin Shaye (Elise) is regarded as a "Scream Queen" due to her many roles in horror movies, including the original A Nightmare on Elm Street. Specs talking about using the events that occured in the book he is writing is an inside joke since Leigh Whannell who plays Specs was actually the movie's writer. Composer Joseph Bishara appears as the red faced demon, known as the "lipstick demon". The red handprints on Dalton's bed are often mistaken for blood but it is actually red lipstick. Josh's mother is named Lorraine. Of course Patrick Wilson would later go on to play Ed Warren, husband of Lorraine Warren, in The Conjuring, which was also directed by James Wan. Ethan Hawke turned down the role of Josh. He would later appear in Sinister, which you have seen. The white dog young Josh is holding in one of the photos belonged to director James Wan. The movie made just over $100 million from a budget of $1.5 million.
